Piss Off You Troll
Good question - there havnt been too many whispers about Blease other than 1 or 2 unsubstantiated comments on here that havnt popped up in the media.

He is contracted for next year, but although he has the pace we currently lack, he is a one-way runner which doesnt fit Roos' ethos as far as I can tell.

I would be happy with a 3rd rounder for him, but I suspect others around here would like to see him get at least 1 more year under Roos to see if he can step it up.

My opinion is that he wont make it.
He trained at Richmond before he was drafted and also a Tiger supporter from memory ,I would love to have sam at richmond specially after the departure of Matty White just to see if the kid lives upto pre draft Hype.

I personally cant see him doing well under Paul Roos tbh, doesnt look like the type that Roos would keep for too long

Its scary how badly we botched that draft.. Blease, Strauss, Bennell, Jetta, Bail, Jurrah..

If you read through the draft list and consider how many very good alternate options were available with each and every pick, it makes me feel sick!

have you seen priddis play??
When two opposition supporters come on to tell you it's a bad trade ... It's a bad trade

I don't know how many times we can say this but 2 is only on the table for a player between the age of 20-24 who is a very good midfielder

NOTHING else , I would consider giving pick 19 for priddis maybe if we got your 3rd rounder back which won't happen ..

Not that these guys are necessarily available but these are the people who fit our needs

Scott selwood
Rory sloane
Taylor Adams
Steele sidebottom
Tom rockliff

Etc , basically one of the next gen a graders

So either we end up with one of them or we keep it

A 28 year old for pick 2 ... **** me dead

As a Saints man, since u Guys want a young gun mid, would jack Steven cut it out of interest. He would be untouchable and the trade wouldn't happen but surley u guys would take jack over rockcliff, side bottom, selwood, Adams and sloane(names from the list above)

Anouther question if u had to trade with saints for pick 2 and jack Steven and nick roo wasn't on the table could u guys think of a possible trade which makes u happy

I'm sure steven would be right in the mix for pick 2

As for another trade , you guys are not as weak as us but not as strong as you would like to be in the midfield , I honestly can't think of anything that could satisfy us , it would have to be like jones , montagna and dal in a package or something stupid

I don't think your trade idea is stupid at all

I would do
Dal Montagna + gilbert (more value than jones) for pick 2 and a later pick to help with a rookie elevation.

Yep, because guys taken 4th and 5th round, or passed over completely in the draft and taken as rookies or pre-season, should be dominating all and sundry by now.

Why not go through ALL clubs and see what happened to their pick 64 or pre-season draft choices? Out of every draft, if a club can get two or three players who become established enough to hold down a regular first-22 position, perhaps with a rookie wild-card thrown in, that's about par for the course.

In any case, except for Jurrah, I wouldn't be writing off any of those yet, even Bennell, and yes, it's getting to be a while ago, but both Blease and Strauss lost a season or two in there through injury.

I didnt mean to sound like a hindsight know-it-all, I'm just saying there were plenty of chances we missed, unfortunately.

There are other teams?
I think you guys are overrating the value of Pick 2 to teams already selecting inside the top eight or so picks.

Pick 1 has great value because of Boyd but from about two to eight there are quality midfield types available. A club with one of those selections is going to land someone pretty good, potentially a future star, regardless of who they get. Giving up a current star for a potential future star, when you are already getting one doesn't represent great value to a team already struggling.

Clubs with later picks might find pick 2 very alluring because by the time they select, in the low to mid teens, much of the top notch quality will be gone.

Unless you are packaging pick 2 with something else good it will be a hard sell to anyone in the bottom half of the ladder. Or else a swap that somehow gets pick one, but now that GWS missed Franklin it is pretty unlikely.

Your market for a straight swap for pick 2 to get a gun midfielder is probably at the top end of the ladder.

Good and fair points AFLQLD.

I think this is why we are happy to trade #2.

I dont think we are over-valuing pick 2 though, we are well aware that our angle will be to shake a good young (probably interstate) player loose with a lure to Melbourne and a higher salary.

Someone will be forced to deal with us hopefully - if not, we'll take Aish.

I think the only way we pick up a genuine gun player is if he is no longer gruntled at his current club and wants out so the club will at least get something of good value for him. Otherwise they'd see it (like me) as a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush.

Why the hell would we take Roo when his knees are rat shit, and his skills are questionable. The only thing he does successfully every game is run a good distance, apart from that - He's not a good kick from 50 out, tackles only slightly better than Jack Watts, Looks like a teenager constantly giving the duck face, and likes to get his dick out with other guys.

Jack Steven though, Depends what you'd want, but he aint a pick 2 that's for sure.
Jack Steven and Lenny Hayes for Pick #2.

If Perris is a Sydney boy, which I assume he is, then I don't blame him at all for taking a lesser contract to 1) stay in his home city, 2) go to a great club as opposed to a rabble and 3) have Buddy teaching him how to tear up the Cross on a weekly basis. Disappointing miss for us maybe, but oh well. No doubt he would have had R. Colless leaning on him or something like that, sounds like something he would do in his extreme jealousy etc.

I threw in jones cuz I couldn't think of any of your midfield brigade but yeah it's the sort of trade that wouldn't happen realistically

In sure we are set on getting a guaranteed long term midfielder with pick 2 and you guys can't afford to give any of them away
