Not pointed specifically at you, there have been a number of posters with similar suggestions with Fitz and even Watts. I'm against trading players who have re-signed because I think it's bad for culture in the first case.
On the specific case of Fitzy, the only way I see him traded is in the event of massive overs. ie. Direct swap for Rockliff, Beams, etc. On paper we have an abundance of talls but on closer inspection I think we're playing with fire in contemplating including Fitzpatrick in a trade. .
Fitzpatrick was re-signed pre Roos, whereas Watts re-signed because of Roos, so their circumstances are different.

Fitz hasn't shown anything as a 2nd ruckman, and his highest currency value is now, because I doubt that he'll get much game time next season. I can see Roos using an experienced 1st ruck (Jamar or Jolly), and playing Gawn as no. 2.

Blind freddy can see that we need midfield depth, and I'd be happy to trade Fitz for a B-grade mid like Savage.

Not really, both signed contracts in good faith.

Yes he has. Who says it is? Sicknotes Clark and Dawes, 1st year Hogan and the eccentric Watts being the ones in front of him? He's a chance to play the most games of all of them. Jamar's still our #1 ruck as it is anyway. No way will we plonk Gawn in the goalsquare over Fitzpatrick though.

Of course Blind Freddy can see it, but Savage isn't a B-Grade midfielder. Fitzpatrick is worth more than Savage.

I think Fitz will get game time. I can't see Hogan playing the complete season, I think he will get regular rest games. Certainly no guarantee Clark will play a whole season based on the last two, and even Dawes struggled with injury this year. I don't think it's a bad idea to keep Fitzy as a quality replacement should one of the other three talls go down or need a rest.

Also I think getting Jolly would be a bad move. His body seems to be passed it now, suffered from lots of different injuries this year. I would stick with Gawn and/or Spencer. Their tap work needs work but should improve with experience, but they do at least provide a presence around the ground.

We'll agree to disagree. Fitzpatrick reminds me of Jesse White of 3 years ago. Everyone was wowed by his athleticism and glimpses of talent, but neither are natural footballers imo. I seriously doubt that Fitzpatrick will develop into a ruckman, which is what we need him to do.

how so? clark and dawes have never once entered the same 22, that i see makes fitz a necessity and far cheaper

so no sloane? dez will be disappointed
Yeah but he'll request a trade for sure. It's in the bag. No doubt at all he'll come to us. Why wouldn't you? In fact I heard he's already told the crows he wants to come to us for our last pick in the draft. Roos knocked it back though because we're upgrading Clisby with that. :)

Fitzpatrick hasn't had much of an opportunity in the ruck this year, played mostly as a forward. Averaged 7 disposals and showed promise at the very least. As we saw with Jamar and as we're seeing with Spencer, rucks take some time to come on. Gawn is a bit accelerated in that regard, has been doing quite well. Jamar isn't going to last very much longer, and trading away Fitzpatrick is throwing away the chance to have a ruck combo of Fitz and Gawn, which could potentially be destructive to opposition teams. Talented talls don't come along very often. You certainly don't trade them away for players like Savage, especially not when they're popular around the club and have just been one of few bright spots in an extremely dark season.

I can see Fitzy becoming the Dave Hale type of player, plays a lot of ruck, but also goes down forward to kick goals.

Looks like Shuey might want to come back home, pick 2 for Shuey and their first round pick and send that to GWS for Adams, then hopefully snag Dunston or Jones or Garlett with next pick :thumbsu:

We're not going to get the Eagles first round pick as well.

Where'd you hear Shuey wants to come home?
