they wont have the cap space...we can do the same.

Plus he is contracted for a few years so they have no chance in that time.
I think Freo do have the cap space!

They tried to get Cloke last yr with a mega deal reportedly around $1m per season for 5 yrs & they haven't signed any player of that ilk so one can only assume a large part of that money is still available.

Also you're right, we could offer the exact same deal but we can't change that he is from WA & the possibility of being lured home on the said mega deal would be very attractive.

I'm just hypothesising with the above scenario but I do think the AFL need to look at this type of scenario becoming more prevalent in the future!

We just have to hope that neither West Coast nor Fremantle finish near the bottom of the ladder anytime soon, to ensure that they can't pick Jesse up in the PSD. That means that even if he does try to leave they'll have to cough up something big to get him.

Or of course we could make him feel like Melbourne is home and make him want to stay with us.

who's your source then? don't leave us hanging!
I played footy with for a few years a while ago, and know his mates and mates of mates etc, apparently he wants to come home for family reasons, that doesn't mean to Melbourne, or that he will at all, but these rumours are deinately believable to a person who may have a little bit more knowledge than tour avergage fan. He's also the best junior I've ever seen play footy, and always knew he would go top 3 if he were to have been drafted under the system, honesty pick 2 is certainly not overs for him. Yet to do a pre season, played round 1 after getting appendix out and also having a broken foot, he's a potential freak and has been kept under quite raps by those at GWS.

Fremantle midfielder Viv Michie has returned to Victoria to weigh up his future, with offers understood to be on the table from the Dockers and Melbourne. Michie, who was recruited with pick No.44 in the 2010 NAB AFL Draft, has only played one game in three seasons because of persistent foot injuries. He finally overcame his injury issues in 2013 and averaged 26 disposals in 16 games with WAFL club Peel Thunder, winning the best and fairest award. St Kilda had shown interest in the 21-year-old, but AFL.com.au understands his decision will be between the Demons and Fremantle, which is keen to retain the on-baller. - See more at: http://www.afl.com.au/news/2013-10-08/trade-wrap-tuesday#sthash.veFJ9i6F.dpuf

Freo board saying that Gossage said Michie's turned down Freo's contract offer and that he wants to play for us.
Well we have 2nd pick PSD if they play hardball. Having said that I still think some more decent players will drop there so to have it open would be good if a third rounder gets it done.

Roos and Lyon have a good record with trades, think it will go fine (think Dempster, Schneider to Saints).

Ross and Lyon have a pretty good trading history don't they? Schneider and Dempster I think swapped between the two. I think our 3rd rounder would be fair.

He was taken at pick 44 originally and has only played one senior game, so they cant demand much of a draft pick. With free agency compo, our third round pick will be around 40. Seems fair.

I won't even pretend to know anything about him, but others seem to thing he shows promise. If he was our Koby Stevens, i'd be happy.

Now that the buddy deal is done, lets hope some trades start to get done..

Doubt we would get Myers, Essendon seem like a **** to deal with
Of all clubs Essendon are the biggest over raters of their players worth that's why they don't get many trades done. Arrogant turds, just look at their retoric at supplements penalty time, Hird is a hero - WTF are they on ...... oh yeh, they are on stuff!

Couldn't agree more.. been like it for years. Knew a guy who was a recruiter for the tigers 10 years ago, said recruiters wont even talk to bombers. Even a fringe player they claim would be best 22 at any other club. Must be all the work they pump into them.. ;)
