I think on the back of his performance this year and particularly in the last 2 months, Hendo would be a decent player swap or pick 12-25 ( 12 being an absolute ripper trade for us but not likely). Tall, rebounding defender with pace and can kick a goal from 60 and is what 23-24, his value would be very high, unfortunately more so for a team in the top 8

Personally, the jury is still out on Henderson a bit. He's had a streaky career, alternating between brilliant and insipid. He's been excellent since Reilly went down, but I think his disposal is suspect (long, penetrating and visually attractive kick, not necessarily accurate) and he has zero left side.

On balance, I'd rather keep him, but if he's going to go I can't help but feel we are in a good position as a seller.

It's kind of sad that because we have lost several players in the past few years that every other club thinks they can come in and harvest our best players. It's almost as if they think all our players are trying to get out of Adelaide and go to some 'strong' Victorian team. No you cannot have Danger, Sloane, Crouch. We are not a player factory for you scum.

If Tom Lee = pick 12 in last years draft then Hendo should get us the 1st pick...

Henderson to the Bulldogs
Bulldogs R2 to the GC
Dan Gorringe to Adelaide

Mckernan and R3 to Carlton
Carlton R2 to Brisbane
Polec to Adelaide
So we get 2 guys that cant make the best 22 at struggling clubs, for 1 guy that is a certain best 22 player and our backup ruckman.

No, just no.

If the club was offered this i dare say they would sign before the page hit the desk.
I dont get whats to like so much about Gorringe and Polec?

I mean GC ruck stocks arent great, and Gorringe literally only got a game when there were no others left.

Polec has played less than a handful of games on a team thats finished bottom 8 three years in a row.

So theyre young, and from SA...so what?

If and its a big IF Cooney is out of calculations l, and I can see why he would stay, then we go hell for leather at Betts. He will add a whole new dimension to our 22 and shouldn't be too hard to get here. Only sticking point for mine is cash, 600k is too much but if we could knock a slice off that im sure he would be happy to move.

Gorringe fills a need and should come cheap. Polec is a bit of a meh situation for me.

Nobody is going to pay Betts 600k, nobody. We would be one of three clubs who would pay him 450k and probably the only one who would give him a three year contract

But you're shipping off McKernan, so he doesnt fill anything. We just move from one scrub ruckman to another. Treading water.

If we have to lose Henderson we have to do better than Gorringe/Polec.

To be honest it doesn't fuss me if he stays, we already are strong enough in midfielders and I would hate us to overspend on one who is living on borrowed time

Ok, looks like Cooney is not coming. Bummer. Oh well.
Get Betts, Polec and Gorringe. Front load contracts again (we will have a large amount left) and then grab another free agent next season. Unless we can grab Goddard if he leaves the Bombers because his contract becomes null and devoid!

people need to remember Henderson is contracted until the end of 2015. if he wants to go home the club would need a other club to pay over tops for henderson to point where their lose for us to even consider us trading Henderson even than the players offer might not suit our needs or the picks are not high enough in the draft.

this is very silimar to when a out of contract player who is not a free agent wants to leave and chooses his new home. The club losing the player is almost bound to accept less than what their believe his value is or lose him for nothing.
