Come on. Every club has multiple players fron interstate. If lightning keeps striking in the same place you have to question why. And no, bad luck isn't one of the possible reasons.
The problem is it isn't lightning. It is distance. It's on of the constraints of having a team outside the major population centres.

You know it's really funny how people say "Trade Douglas", "Trade Sloane"... do it while the price is high. Happy to screw over players that have shown loyalty and stepped up as players. But as soon as a player requests a trade something is rotten. Like WTF, we can screw over a player but a player can't request a trade? If a player wants to be traded, especially for family reasons and is upfront with the club, then the club should be able to work out a suitable trade .

It's the Gunston and Tippett type situations where they feel free to hold the club at ransom that needs to be addressed. Its something the club has to be working with the AFL to solve. Players acting like free agents not only the trade process it undermines free agency.

Henderson is contracted until the end of 2015 unless a club offers us a very good trade offer, Henderson won't be going anywhere and their are things the Club and Henderson can put in place to combat home

If the Crows were able to retain the players they've lost over the last 5 years we would be a genuine consistent top 4 side.

To suggest we don't have a problem is delusional and comes from the Trigg spin playbook.

I hope this does not Include Bock and Davis has that was a unique situation.

the Gunston tippett type situation does not apply to Henderson has he is contracted the club holds all the cards and it works both ways it just depends on whether the player is contracted or uncontracted and the clubs can't have it all their only way.

The homesickness excuse is a joke. The airport is 10 minutes from AAMI. Flight time an hour to Tullamarine. In that sense you could be home in 2 hours. Door to door in most cases.i could understand VB having a problem but half our squad would be home before their parents hang up the phone!

To me living in SA would be the ideal situation for a Victorian recruit to find himself in. Just far enough away he doesn't have to visit the family everyday and night time is his without any nagging from parents or pressure from annoying siblings.

Im with you. After Tippett left at the end of last season I was praying the club would do a review into the players culture at west lakes. I did think something smells for awhile.

However in truth I am starting to think we were just unlucky to have three money hungry whores and a f4ckwit that couldn't hack Adelaide because it made the p ussy angry. This offseason will be telling, however I do believe we have signed everyone we need to. Thommo hasn't re signed because as far as I have always understood the Club does not re sign players over 30 until seasons end and a squad review has taken place. Based on his season I cant see that as a problem.

I think you also need to take into account that I don't think Henderson would have any intention of screwing over the Crows either. It'll be a "trade me if you can and get a deal you're happy with" type scenario, not an ultimatum where he's demanding out, or a "I'm in Victoria and i'm not coming back" type deal.

The problem the way I see it is that interstate Victorian recruits have an unfair advantage to having a lure to go home because of the amount of clubs that are in Victoria and obvious family pressure to come home as a result. The club does a lot of work in this area though. Victorian lads are permitted to stay back a couple of days after a Friday night game in Victoria some are permitted to go a day early to visit family. Its not as big a lure as it once was. But you will always get an odd mummas boy that want to go home though no matter what we do.

I think the top 10 named draft picks in the future should be able to put a price on their head and go to the highest bidder, the way the draft is it sucks the father son rule sucks maybe we should go to zones instead say Crows Port get the first 6 picks out of SA and then can trade them to other clubs in exchange for other players etc

Zoning won't happen because it would put the NSW and QLD teams at a significant disadvantage, Vic teams would be at a slight disadvantage and it would be awesome for SA and WA teams.

Also who would decide the top 10 picks, so that they can put this price on their head?

Yeah, we have no problem signing 30+ players before the seasons out, it's signing them to contracts longer than 1 year that they're averse to. Might be something to the speculation, and that's all it is thus far, that he or the club are considering their options.

I don't think "homesickness" is the issue for Henderson, it's far more complex than that, as far as I understanding he's loving life in Adelaide and would rather stay, as evidenced by his 3 year deal last year, for reasons personal to him though, his circumstances have changed meaning he'd prefer to be closer to home.

If what I'm reading is correct Richmond haves made their last offer to Martin and he has knocked it back.

Now he is the type of player you could offer a monster contract and blow other sides out of the water in the PSD - if a suitable trade can't be agreed
Yer but whatever we can offer, GWS and GC can beat it, money, trades, whatever :(
