Ahhh bigfooty.

So many scenarios...so much hype.....so many rumours.

Will the AFC get a big name this year?
Sadly our only shot is free agency. Unless we trade a couple of players for 2nd round draft picks and we can on trade those for a reasonable name. can not see it happening this season. maybe next season when we get our draft allocations back we can trade to catch up.

Dude your whole "hey bishes I live in Melbourne so you suck" routine is so lame. Take your own advice and get outside the bubble of the eastern states. Ever lived overseas? No one knows what a melbourne even is.

Melbourne is the definition of little whiny arse brother syndrome. They have a massive inferiority complex re Sydney and always have. They relentlessly beat up on Adelaide and have for decades because it makes them feel more important than they are. Of all the people I have met overseas none of them have mentioned Melbourne as a place they would want to live. Its too big for some and too small for others. Its just an awkward sized city at the arse end of the world with shit weather and an inferiority complex. Just because Melbourne based media blow smoke up their arses about how great they are doesn't make it true. Talk to the neutral observers from outside and it has all the disadvantages of a big city without the global relevance and has none of the charm and liveability of a small city. Its only a sector of AFL fans who think Melbourne is the centre of the world.

So tedious listening to you say we have an inferiority complex. It really sounds like you have to experience a bit more of the world beyond Australia to get some perspective.
If only we got to play football against people from countries that don't know where Melbourne is.

Get outside the bubble of Adelaide ....and it's a common view of the eastern States

Should i have said Adelaide suffers from little brother syndrome ......does that make it more palatable EC?

Still waiting on your rationale on your argument that Adelaide is undesirable .......waiting
Adelaide Football Club is a very desirable club to come and play for. I think the Adelaide fish bowl media syndrome kill the attraction. Why would a star player come here if every two to three years his face is on the front and back pages every week with 10 different stories discussing his contract, 50 rumours on disagreements with team mates, creating news out of twitter ramblings totally out of context, showing them on an end of season trip in twitter photos to exaggerate stories that the photo have nothing to do with etc. Rucci has f ucked Adelaide and Port Adelaide over continually, with his style of intrusive over the top reporting. The media coverage of Tippett at this time last season was nothing short of disgraceful, not to mention the news of Bernie Vince sculling a beer in his boxer shorts being breaking news, I mean c'mon.

If they can't handle Rucci, how will they ever survive Grand Final week? :p

Unfortunately I don't think the club is necessarily the reason we can't attract big names. To the average kid growing up in Melb, with no first hand experience whatsoever, Adelaide is a dingey little backwater full of bitter twisted inbreds. Its going to be a hard perception to change when you look at some of the South Australians that our eastern neighbours are exposed to.

Oh cmon ........ Pav was never coming .....you do know that players develop strong player relationships within clubs once they are drafted

]
Pav was desperate to come home, and was all set to come home, until the Carey stuff went down.

We chose Carey over Pav, and that was the end of any chance of him coming back.

Let me get this straight. We have been woeful at tackling for the last 2 years and are devoid of many players that irritate the opposition players but when one is mentioned (Robinson) everyone turns there nose up at the thought of it.
I would love Robinson at the club and would make him our prime tagger. I reckon he would really get in the ear of gun opposition mids in the Crowley style and release VB to HBF.

He is also very good mates with Betts from what I gather so it makes sense if we are into deep discussions with Eddy. Plus being a Tassie lad he might like the smaller city of here better.

Can't we just get our players to pull their fingers out and tackle? We've already got one player that tackles and does nothing else

Yeah but tackling is a technique that can be taught. Having the mind set and instinct is something a lot our players don't seem to have. Plus Robbo is a pest and that's what we need. Don't need every player to be saints on the field.

Julia wasn't all that bad..

But seriously, just out of interest, which South Australians that Melbourne kids are exposed to fall into this category in your opinion?

We'd be trading and paying a lot for someone thats only real use is as a tagger.

I really feel tagging is a role suited to fringe players and <20 gamers, rather than high profile members of the squad such as our captain.

That's probably a lot to do with the stigma of tagging as a low skilled task.
