Just take him in the PSD. That's where we can actually use some leverage. If we ended up getting Betts through FA and Polec through the PSD that would be an amazing result given out predicament.

If he has indicated a move home, no other club will take him in front of us! It just doesn't happen, especially if he has already agreed to terms etc
It does rarely, pretty sure JMac agreed with Richmond, then Port took him (and gave him agreeable terms).

Ch9 saying Port are favourites to get him which is no surprise.
No, they said the Lions were favoured to deal with them.

And that is based the fact port have greater picks. They del with s, the odds are string they only get a pick about 50 or 60 or even worse, they will get nothing as we will pick him up in the PSD.

There is also a big assumption Port are ready to throw a high pick at him - it will be interesting to see what they think he's worth and whether they can satisfy Brisbane. That may actually be the best chance of him ending up in the draft

Yes every club do have them but most clubs don't have them active due to using all picks in national draft. Most years is about 5-8 players taken in PSD.
i totally understand that, but they might want to pick him up in PSD if we no one trades and keep a PSD pick for him, in the same way we would.

I'm sure from Polec's POV, if its a choice of getting guaranteed passage to Port, or picking the Crows and going in the PSD and hoping no one else takes him, he's choose Port.

If we can get him to agree to the PSD fair enough, if we can't and we want him then pick 50 wouldn't do it
Once he's agreed to join us, he is removed from the negation period.

We offer them pick 50 and don't budge. We then say, we are trying our best and they won't deal with us. Sound familiar? Yeah, many other clubs have don't that to us many times.

If we want him, we need to pay him overs. If he is worth $240,000 we should be offering him $350,000 and making him pick us.
$350,000 for a player that will not be in our best 22 on current form no thanks. He would struggle to get more than 150 p.a and no more than 2 years.

I understand where you are coming from but it's never a players preference to go to the PSD. Kurt would have expected us to do the trade given the clause.

If its a borderline decision for him us or Port and he knew he could guaranteed get to Port who do you think he will choose? We have to be his preferred choice by far.

The Smaller Warrior believes he's already chosen Port

This is the problem as I see it. Paying big overs for someone like this is a massive risk.

So we want him, why?

Because crows currently have around 1 good outside midfielder, with pace, silky smooth skills, good kick and good decision making on our list. He fits our need exactly.

Im positive that other teams would have been more interested in him if he didnt state that SA was his destination.

How exactly do we know these skills are of AFL standard that will see him in our best 22

Hi Croweaters,

Just a few questions for you from Seaford....

With the Saints main issue being a lack of tall key defenders, what the situation with Luke Thompson? I recall him looking like a very promising KPD last year but missed his progress this year. I assume he's contracted & happy but is he a possible trade option & at what price?

I suppose the obvious candidate from St Kilda in return (other than picks) would be Rhys Stanley (a good replacement for McKernan). Although I personally think Rhys will be the perfect support down the track for Tom Hickey (with McEvoy on the trade table either this year or in 2014) as a ruck/forward, which is his best position by a mile.

Interested to hear your thoughts.
Id be more than happy to take Rhys Stanely off your hands :) is a great athlete and won the grand final sprint iirc. Can ruck and play forward. Crows are crying out for a ruckman with all round ability that will have an impact around the ground to support Jacobs, especially with limited rotations coming up. If you guys are offering him id take him in a heartbeat!

What's this about McEvoy being on the trade table? did i miss something?!? id also be more than happy to take him as well, tahts if he wanted to come to say.... he plays so much like dean cox and has a huuuuge engine. Dont know why saints would want to get rid of him? any news as to why he'd be on the trade table???

Thats a bit of a generic question.... How do you know that any player is going to have skills good enough for AFL:confused: dont know what you're trying to get at???

But he was rated extremely highly as a youngster and thats shown by his pick 5 status. Ive seen him play for brisbane and he certainly does have a great kick on him with some exciting pace. You dont exactly forget how to play AFL overnight....

I think his downfall has been his injury history, combined with a very poor mental state leading to poor work ethic, not his ability.
