If anything, our situation this year makes him even less of a "must get" player. Yes, he has the potential to be handy - but not at any price. We don't have any 1st or 2nd round picks, so it would be a tragic waste if we were to trade our way into these rounds only to piss that pick up against a wall by trading it for Polec. His value right now is a 3rd or 4th round selection. If that's the price we pay, then fair enough, but he's not worth paying "overs" for.
Thats where we differ Vader. I'm very much in the high reward for calculated risk brigade. He is 20 years old and is very talented. Was rated very highly as a junior and with continuity of games will develop and become another quality David Noble pickup. Bookmark it!

Don't mind it DJ but would very much like to hang on to Hendo. He has come on this season and is hard to replace.

Yeah i agree in an ideal world.
But he's 26 next year and in all honesty has played 10 games of top AFL footy in his career. Luckily for us half a dozen of those were in the back end of this year.
So if it meant trading Henderson to Melbourne for example to get their pick 18 or 19 off of them, which we could draft Luke Dunstan with, I'd be signing before the page hit the table.

And with Hendo under contract that's the benchmark imo, pick 15-20.

Think of it this way, Hendo > Polec and we are thinking Polec a likely bust but worth the risk for a pick 35-45.

Mackay would be a fair swap for Polec. Less potential ceiling but likely consistent output who could be a very valuable player if you could add 5 possessions a game.

Does anyone really expect us to trade Mackay? We're talking about a team here that hands out golden passes to those who are under-performing. I don't think Sando will have the gall to let a player like him go.

Could he potentially take Smith's spot in the backline, allowing Smith to move up to the wing? They're similar sizes, but other than that I don't know anything about Edwards. Is he worth getting?
He isn't that dissimilar to Tambling in that he plays on a flank or a wing, has good pace but his kicking needs work. Haven't seen enough of him to judge his decision making or defensive skills.

Kicking needs work hey...this is why Hendo is so valuable in supposedly the easiest role on the ground. Except for when affected by his knee in his last game his ability to find the ball, use quick decision making and precise long kicking cut thru the opposition.

Compare to Reilly, Shaw, Tambling, Jaensch, Mackay and the other options lack under match pressure in one of these 3 areas...and that kills us on the scoreboard as easy goals result from the rebound.

It could be true. Melbourne can ask for whoever they like. We will just turn them down - as quoted in the story.

Them asking means nothing.
The only way I can see us listening is if Melbourne offer Pick 1 + 3 for Sloane, but I can't see that happening, presuming they get a priority pick.

I can't see us being that interested in the top few picks realistically, but you have to ask the questions. When it comes down to it, no matter how bad Melbourne are, the number 1-3 picks are used to move the top hand full of players and they would be dumber than I thought if they didn't say that's a Sloane or a Dangerfield from us. Which I would say no to every time, because they want to stay.

I don't think he'll be traded because he doesn't want to leave, but hopefully they tell him (or he's already been told) he's not an automatic 22 and he either has to work his ass off to get back in, or he can go elsewhere.

Pick 1 and 3 could be Watts and Fiora in the long run.
No point in trading Sloane as his best is still in front of him and he is a jet.

The
From memory (and I could be wrong here), Thompson had one major injury which kept him out for a while. Polec has had repeated soft tissue injuries. One is/was high risk, the other is/was not.

We gave up pick #37 for Lynch. A reasonable price. I wouldn't be unhappy in paying pick #37 for Polec (assuming we could get our hands on pick #37). Pick #27 I would object to vehemently, but #37 in 2013 is a 3rd round draft pick which is probably close to what he's worth.
the only question is do the club think pick 27 will or could be better thank polec. Same question with what ever we trade for him. Don't know much about the draft but injury is normally a reason a good player slides in drafts clubs then bank on them to come good (Menzel last year I think).

This Shaun Edwards from GWS seems very very likely to come here.

What would we offer for him? What is he worth?
Our 3rd Rounder? or are we thinking PSD?

FWIW i reckon a 3 way deal with David Mackay to a Victorian club should be spoken of to get Polec over the line.

I still like SMack and our 4th to Collingwood for their Second.

And Henderson to Melbourne for their second too.
Henderson should be worth more late first rounder with a early third or late second going back.

Tom lee, hickey, wellingham, Dawes. Where does he rate against thoes?

I just read that the Giants have delisted the ex SA (Woodville West Torrens) Josh Growden. They took him 3 years ago as a 17 year old priority pick. A broken leg last year set him back a bit. Does anyone know anything about him? Would he be worth a late pick?

Would you offer up a VB or Vince for a top 3 draft pick? Would love to get Aish or Brad Crouch's brother. Who would you trade for the pick?

Shit yes i would. Would the other team give up a top 3 for that. Shit no.
I really do think both Aish and Scharenberg will struggle at AFL level however. I'd be looking outside of those 2.

Whats the chances of Tom Boyd being there @ number 2 in the draft? I spose we need to cover other areas more but would love another quality big forward to work with tex, Jenkins doesn't do it for me. What would you want with a top 3 pick?
