There's been lot of talk about Vince being shopped around.

Personally, I don't think we'd get good return for our trade on him, and this would destabilise the team more than trading someone like Van Berlo, given his popularity with the playing group.

On return from suspension, Bernie was very good for us and I think in the future he should be used as HBF setting up play with his deadly dual-sided kicking.

Admittedly, we can only field so many plodders, but I think we could bear to have Thompson and Vince as two slower players in our midfield.

I also think we should hold on to Henderson, but deal Van Berlo and Mackay to facilitate a few trades (inb4 VB is the heart and soul of the club yada yada yada).

Im loving the idea of buddy to shitney... soon their cap will be all used up by a player that is 1 concussion from retirement and another that can't mark the ball over his shoulders and his best was years ago. Come on afc.. make a play for Jetta.
One of the players very soon that will be of far more worth than the cap space they have left. They would have to be letting some players go.

Technically correct but the AFL make the additional payment i believe. It's not an extra slush fund that the Swans get to spend how they like.

That's exactly what it is.

The AFL gives the money to Sydney, and they split it as they see fit.

They discussed earlier this year handing the administration of it to the AFL, to stop the complaining by the Vic clubs, but that didn't happen.

If they really need it (they don't, if anything we need a 'living in a fishbowl allowance'), they it should be paid by the AFL to the players directly AND, the players should need to claim it in a similar process to completing a tax return.

Need an allowance because rent is more expensive, complete the form with your rent receipts and the AFL will refund you a % up to a preset maximum.

Correct good post. Screw them. If they want 10% then they have to fully disclose their wages.

Open clear and transparent. How the f*** can they have the money to have Tippett and Buddy in the same team, careful as next they may poach Betts.

Hmmm they are probably sniffing around Danger as we chat.

I think the bottom players should get an extra 10% no problem with that.

But to suggest Skirt needs an extra 10% on top of his $1M salary to live is a f***ing joke.

Families in Sydney can survive on $100k FFS.

Kurt and Buddy would take up $2.5m of their cap per year, based on that the Swans can put hand on heart and say all the other players are getting the 10% allowance

equality my ass
You wouldn't want to be a 5th or 6th draft pick going to a Sydney based on those figures.

You won't get looked after.

Then surely we can only blame the AFL for thinking they'd actually do the right thing? I despise Sydney as much as anyone here but can you honestly say we wouldn't do the same knowing the AFL are completely useless at regulating the payments...

AFL need to regulate and mandate the payments themselves for minimum wage/rookie list and possibly 1st to 3rd year interstate players only. If you've played more than 3 years of AFL then tough. If you're Skirt on $1m or Buddy on $1m - stiff sh*t!!

They can say all they want that players all get an even 10% but all you have to do is sign players up for 10% less than they are worth if they were anywhere else. I bet that after the minimum wage players their is a whole lot of players who are just on AFL average after the COLA.

If a player chooses to live in Sydney their is nothing saying they have to live in the best suburbs and live that lifestyle. If someone is living a good life in SA and moves to Sydney they are going to have to adjust their budget, thats life.

All this rubbish about $6 loafs of bread and $10 coffees... Go to Coles and move to a cheaper suburb. Their is no COLA, their is an AFL needs AFL to be successful in Sydney allowance.

Surely this needs to be investigated in great detail how the 10% is distributed to each player.

Get each player to sign legally binding document that they receive an extra 10% from Sydney.

I bet that would change the landscape of those aholes trying to get Buddy, of all the bloody nerve of them.

Couldnt agree more. They should have receipts then to justify the extra 10% not just receive it because everything is 10% more.

I mean even in Adelaide, there is great difference in prices from supermarket/petrol/restaurants.

FFS its not as if Sydney's players are starving and having to go to soup kitchens.

What surprised me the most about AFL players is how much they are fed and looked after by a club which is not counted in the salary cap. I have been watching the foxtel show on Wednesdays night about the Collingwood players getting fed and looked after each day.

Think about, what the hell do players have money to spend on? Basically a house and thats it. These days with all things that can be bought cheaply on line (meaning all players have the same access and same expense as any other state), I really cannot understand what Sydney players could justify needing the 10%.

Even then there was a rort taking place a few years ago, where a player would buy a cheap house for say $500k and a sponsor could buy that house for $700k hmmm instant $200k to their salary, all legal and above board.

I have no problem with what the players earn good on them thats fine and great. My bitching is that Sydney getting 10% extra.

Owe I forget that tightarse Skirt is living with a Sydney team mate too, so what the hell does he spend his money on to justify 10%.

Then should that not be considered "salary cap cheating"???? geez that would be karma.
No because the AFL does put rules in place for Sydney. It hands over the extra 10% in a lump sum and doesn't ask anymore questions its not paid individually. The irony of it all is the players on the lowest salary are the ones that don't see any of it.
