Bulldust.

That's just more excuses from you
Every point of view different from yours is "an excuse". Trotting out point scoring, self-indulgent lines does not make you correct.

All Clubs passed him up for a reason. Any suprise that sort of reality check results in a change in demeanour or attitude?

We didn't pick him up, better just to move on. The opportunity to pick him up may have passed, but that's Trigg's fault. We need to look at other strategies to fill the void now.

It's a non argument to say "we should have picked him up for nothing" when all evidence pointed the other direction.

Umm... yeah. So what's been suggested in other words.
So after watching today's game. Picture him gone ... Who anchors our defence in future, or as Bruce said ... He's the player we build our defence around for the next 10 years.... Who else do we have that can fill that role?

I mean I do get what you say about defenders being cheaper, but surely we need one quality leader back there.

Talia has done far more now at the Crows than what Wellman did at the Crows. Talia is established in th Crows line-up - Wellman wasn't & we had similar types - Smart & Hart. Wellman played his best footy at Dons.

If Talia left, we would have no decent replacement (unlike when we traded Wellman). Talia showed his value once again today, when he usually won his 1:1 contests which often ended up with us goaling.

Talk of trading Talia is crazy talk!
Look I certainly think Talia is already better than davis, and soon to be ahead of bock but if you look where top defenders come from he can be replaced if the price is right

You don't trade young guns who have committed their heart & soul to the club. It's screws with the club's culture. This isn't a game of sheep stations!

Yeah it is.

These same players who commit heart & soul (excuse me whilst I barf) have fought for years to get the right to free agency.

Good on them, but signing a contract for however much money they can get is not some higher level spiritual & emotional commitment.

I gather you have never sucessfully managed people then as your thinking is very simplistic. There is a job for you at Melbourne...

We would have thought the same about Bock, Davis... at various stages.

Yes, Talia is awesome.

Which is why he's got value.

No you don't. You're saying the words but you don't understand.

Your comment in the match day thread along the lines of "look how good he's been, crazy to trade him" shows that you think my position is that Talia is not that good so we should trade him.

You'll only understand when you realise that good performances from Talia do not counter my position.

I heard on the radio that melbourne already have players wanting to leave, including watts and also James Frawley has been mentioned. I think he would be a good target for us as a replacement for truck. at 25 years old should be in his peak and maybe we might be able to offload Tambling and Graham in the process as they need more mediocre players

We were always going to redraft Joyce otherwise we would have been sillys.

But we could have rookied Garlett but then again no one did.
Surely if ever there was a time to buck the herd mentality and take a risk on a potential high end talent this was it. We're missing draft picks, he fills a glaring need, there were issues that gave us the chance to secure for a price that would either turn out to be peanuts or the steal of the century...no downside!

Trading Talia is absurd.

I've no idea if it's been mentioned in the 20 pages since I last read this thread, but Adelaide forum favourite Joel Patfull re-signed with the Lions earlier this year, and while Dal Santo's contract runs out end of this year, he has a 1 year extention clause triggered by passing an end of season fitness test, so neither of them are going anywhere.

So just to clarify, your positions is that Hawthorn were idiots for getting Luke Hodge?
Hawthorn did not trade for Hodge, they traded for a draft pick and were fortunate to get Hodge. They could have just as easily got Tambling... If they had have kept Croad would that make them idiots... No.

Anyway maybe answer one of your own questions... Are Sydney stupid ...because if you answer no, then you agree Talia should not be traded.
