MRB37 getting a quality ruck/frwd should have been our no.1objective ahead of polec imo
Should have been, unfortunately it's a thin market for bigs for what the Crows have to offer. Almost makes you understand why they jumped on Graham so quickly last year, although at this time last year I was hoping they'd chase Dan Currie instead.

They looking at taking a ruck from the state leagues with a rookie pick?

You happy then to trade out Sauce, Thompson, Wright, Porps, Pets, Radar etc? Its called list managment. You manage the list, not just manage to piss the list off. And dont compare Blight coming in and getting rid of 3 old players to shopping around 20 year olds who are in contract and unaware they are not wanted at the club. We want to have an enironment where loyality is required and given, you know, since we have Danger and Sloane coming up for contract renewals in the coming years and they are going to be tempted by big offers to go home, and we are all going to hope they are loyal to our club.
In a commercial business you want loyalty (on both sides).

In professional sport you want stats.

How often did you hear AFC players saying that senior players weren't playing up to their potential this year?
How do you think that makes the player that is giving 100% feel?

Danger wants speed at the club. He wants players around him that can deliver him a premiership. Not a boys club where near enough is good enough.

They will be loyal if they are properly remunerated AND the club has success, and we will not succeed with the backbone of the playing group we have had for the last 5 - 7 years.
Oh i dont dissagree that we need to bring in new talent. But that was stuffed up by the club and now we are disloyal to the playing group to fix Triggys f/u. If Danger is offered 1.2 mill by Geelong and we can at best do 800k a year he should just go then? Remuneration is better and the Geelong envrionment is without doubt better. No, we are gonna hope and pray he stays for less and one of the main reasons he will show loyality is if he thinks he has to reward a loyal club.

Like all clubs, you show loyalty to those who are likely to bring success.

Come to the end of it, both Mackay and Vince are expendable, and if we are serious about improving then they should be traded (Vince was), supporters move on, players move on.

I'd rather be at a club that was trying to get a premiership, then rewarding mediocrity.

Moving on players who underperform is healthy. Its a good thing dammit. Players who bust a gut and want to win a flag deserve better than to play alongside blokes who coast along and don't push their ceiling.
Absolutely.

A club that doesn't move on any senior players after 3 poor years out of 4 is kidding itself.

Mackay has been a major disappointment. If he didn't want to get shopped around then he should have got a kick at some stage.

Vince has been a disappointment since 2009.

Johnston finally showed some glimpses at the end of this season but that's all.

Sure, Vince and Mackay could argue that Porplyzia, Reilly, VB have been equally or more disappointing than them but Mackay and Vince have currency - the others don't.

The club can't win, in the Neil Craig years the club was rightfully criticised for not trading and now people are throwing their skirts up because the club was exploring trading a player struggling to make our best 22 (DMac) and another who's best footy is well past him and is no longer in our most important 15 players

Geelong don't offer big $ contracts like that. They function how we should be functioning; dedicated players, lower $ contracts and desire to win. It attracts like-minded and driven individuals.

Danger will be tempted by the culture at Geelong, not dollars, which is why we must become Geelong.

Agree that Trigg has made this much harder though. Or has he accidentally made us think differently?

Isnt it funny, Dmac and Bernie cop the most flak on this board alongside VB and now people are complaining about a Warren Tredrea story. As far as the media know Matt Wright was offered up and said no and he moved on. If Mackay is really that upset about being offered up he will leave, if not he stays. And if he stays hes clearly happy here.

Why are people so inclined to believe media reports and not the club when more often than not we blast the media here ??

I totally agree.

It's like hoarders, they want to change their ways (us with trading) but the second you try they get defensive and state they were going to use it one day. (the players we are scrapping).

He thinks he's been hard done by because he only got a 1 year contract while Pods got 2.

Cry me a river LJ, he's moving from interstate.

Pack his bags. Can't stand his attitude on the field either. Why didn't you kick it to me? Where's my free kick? Why wasn't I selected?
If LJ tweeted that, he certainly hasn't done himself any favours.

Needs to knuckle down & bust his gut to get into the team, as had the talent, but still question the attitude.

Seems he is concerned by Jpod giving him competition for his spot.

McDermott your kidding arn't you

Its standard practice when trading for a player that the other club puts up its wish list and if any player is not on the clubs untouchable list then the club will go through the process and engage with player and manager on the opportunity

Welcome to the world of professional sport, with more money comes more risk an greater expectations.....

Moving on Vince and possibly DMac won't have the slightest effect on our players performance in 2014
I'm hoping it will send a message to the players - perform consistently or you may be shopped around.

I would be disappointed if AFC were shopping around Douglas, Sloane, Danger types who consistently give their all. This would send the wrong message!

No complaints from me trying to trade players who have not made their most of their abilities.

I think the Crows may have taken that seriously. First Sando and Milburn, now Podsiadly. I wonder who's next?

Trading is part of footy, but name another year where players have been shopped to compensate for what the club has lost due to cheating? At the same time those responsible remain at the club.

It has to affect the playing group. Imagine your work has to get rid of your mates because your boss was found guilty of a wrongdoing but he still kept his job. Would you be pissed and open to leaving if other opportunities arose?

Im going to put a different spin on it. I'm glad they have been forced into taking positive action in clearing out some under achievers. The last time we were forced into trading was 2011 and look how that turned out.

Yep but we got rid of players based on just them, not because of the admin.

Just joining the dots

Rucci did say it was a sure thing to get done on Friday, now Rucci is saying that Port is trying to piggy back of the Longer deal, now this article claiming the GC option is basically dead
