It is strange why Longer traded from us to go to the Saints. You are essentially going from a team that is on the up to a team that is completly rebuilding and will be on the bottom of the ladder. It is a strange move.

He is a big bloke after all....

Premiers- Fremantle. (As poor as they were in the GF it is har to forget what they did in the Prelim)
Spoon- Gws (
Dark Horse- Richmond (who I think will make the GF, like TomFC I think this side is too good not to do well)
Slider- Essendon (I don't think they are as talented as they think, I get the impression that Bobmber isn't really motivated, and I am still of the view that some of their high profile players may be spending some time on the sideline)
Us- 7 or 8 wins, which I think will see us about 15th. (I don't think we are bad team, but just looking through the draw we get this year, i don't know where our wins will come, I think the Suns have passed us this year (though I think we will retake them in 2015). I am particularly concerned about the first half of the year. Having said that I will be delighted with anything over 8 wins, so there is every chance i have set myself up for an enjoyable season.)
Bottom Four- GWS, St Kilda, Melbourne, us

Edited to Provide explanation

Premiers: Sydney
Dark horse: West Coast

Hawks and Freo to disappoint for mine. Hawks key players Hodge Mitchell Burgone all getting older now. Freo I think will struggle up forward. Pav is getting older and his body is starting to feel it. Gumbelton long term injury.

Cats to slide. A number of key players now at wrong end of career, Vardy gone for year and no Pods places a lot of focus on Hawkins.

Us: struggling to see a good year for us, we haven't resolved the forward line issues, Browny is even older if that's possible and our draw is pretty tough. I think we will end up 12th.

Oh yeah and I forgot Spoon to the Saints.

The one thing working in our favour is the number of teams in the 6-12 range. If we can get over Geelong in round 2 it should give us the confidence to knock off some of the other teams in that range - NM, collingwood, Carlton etc.

Could always work the other way too though.

Edit: this may be in the wrong thread. Please move if so.

Premiership: Fremantle. Only ones who can stop Hawthorn this year, and I want them to.

Dark Horses: As much as I hate to say it, the Tigers and Adelaide. Both will rise up the ladder.

Slider: Essendon and Port.

Bottom Four: GWS, Saints (in so much trouble, surprised it isn't bigger news), Melbourne, Western Bulldogs

Us: 9th

Carlton - more overrated than those dudes who thought Ablett was underrated at No. 1 in that top 50 list.

This is actually the first year I can remember that I don't think Carlton are overrated. I really rate Malthouse as a coach and I reckon this year they'll get the benefit out of the focus on contested footy he started to implement last year.
And while I wasn't convinced at the time Thomas and Everitt seem like smart additions.

Sounds like we disagree on something, Tom. Game. On. 2014.

I think the Bulldogs are being overrated by a lot of people. They are worse off than us, with their KPP stocks even more dire than us. They have good inside midfielders, but no one on the outside to complement it. We should take care of them comfortably.

This has been probably the thing I've been most confused about during the off-season. How can anyone look at our list and the Dogs' list and say the Dogs will do better in 2014?

The answer of course is that they don't do that. Opinions are based off narratives rather than analysis.

So TomFC, I've thought long and hard about this and concluded that I think Carlton will do poorly due of the fact that I don't like Carlton.

I'm going to back myself, however, because I like taking a risk.

I'm backing you up re: Carlton. I hate them and also want them to fail miserably.

My mum's a Carlton fan so I can't hate them, unfortunately.

We'll have to find some other uncommon ground, TomFC ... I'm pretty ignorant about historical events, maybe we can clash there some time.

You must've realised by now that respecting your mother is not something this board condones.

Horrible display of family values.

Personally I think there are some lines that unfortunately you can't cross when it comes to those you love, and not hating Carlton is one of those lines. Shame shame shame

Matthew Lloyd will crash into bike-riding Browny on a roundabout, thereby writing off his Merc, fracturing his tibia, fibula, both collarbones and breaking 5 ribs.

Browny will later be quoted in the meedja:....." Jeez, ya gotta feel sorry for the poor bugger but lucky for him I was only goin' slow otherwise he'd be in a world of pain"

Premiership: Hawthorn. Won the GF last year when they had an average game. More in store and looked stronger last year without a Buddy focus

Dark Horses: Reckon Suns will find a spot in the finals. Kids have now reached 50 + games and are smarter, stronger, etc. O'Meara, Ablett & Martin...go OK.

Slider: Essendon, St Kilda (or have they slid too far already), Collingwood

Bottom Four: GWS, Saints, Western Bulldogs, Collingwood

Us: 13

Meant to add:

Brownlow: Fyfe
Rising Star: Jack Martin (daylight second)
Coleman: Gunston (Zorko our top goal kicker)
