dude chill he ain't gonna be starting

He shouldn't even be playing. How would you feel being Klay Thompson, Goran Dragic or Gordon Hayward? These guys are playing the best ball of their careers, it may be the only time in their careers they get the opportunity, yet a bloke that doesn't even play gets in because a bunch of band-wagoners voted for him. It's a joke.

Dragic is the only one even remotely close to playing at an all star level, the other two not a chance.

Yep, Kobe in there is a joke. They need to set a minimum number of games played or something. All-Star appearances has become a joke. It used to be an honour to get picked. Not any more.

it's the system that's wrong.

kobe has showed his class by lobbying for someone else to get a go. kobe recognises he has had his time and achieved basically everything, and wants to see the next generation achieve.

What level is Kobe playing at?

I agree about the system. This isn't a personal attack on Kobe. He can't help being voted in.

You understand the point of the ASG right? It's a game for the fans, why shouldn't they vote their favourite players into the game?

So which is it? Level of play or popularity? Make up your mind.

I never said it was level of play, I was just responding to you throwing out names like Klay Thompson and Gordon Haywood and how they would feel about Kobe being in the game. Either of them wouldn't be disappointed they aren't getting in because they wouldn't feel like they deserve it.

It's a popularity contest, hence the fan voting in the first place.

In fairness to Griffin he probably actually deserves it. Playing well. I'd probably go Aldridge too but I don't think it's clear cut and Aldridge will end up in anyway.
He has been playing well, Just not on Love/Aldridge's level, I would even have Davis/Nowitzki over him

Does the NBA make money through the voting process? Number of hits on their site/txt messages etc etc. That is not a rhetorical question.

I dislike the fan voting process which I imagine would be dominated by teams with a bigger supporter base. Living in the Bay Area the amount of advertising for Steph Curry to get daily votes on TV and radio has been overwhelming. He deserves his spot though.

It's always going to be contentious but I would rather see a game of the elite chosen by a selected panel than a team chosen by the voting public. True fans will watch either. Kobe does not deserve his spot this year. Having said that his six games this year have been spectacular-ish.

I havent watched an All Star game for over 10 years probably.

And who exactly is pushing these sleeved jersies?

The fans and players hate them.
Confession. I've never watched a full all-star game.

Watched highlights of course but since regularly watching the NBA I've just never bothered.

Crap system but Kobe's only stepping aside because he's injured.

He'd be playing 38 minutes if he was healthy.

Amazing how Chris Paul's popularity has declined so quickly. Curry was virtually unknown to the casual fans and bandwagon fans a year ago. When he dropped 54 against NY his popularity took off.

Fully expect Terrence Ross to start for the East next season. :p

you and i both know the worth of the man. if he was healthy he'd turn up and play a few mins, then defer to the next generation.
