I know im probably in the minority here but i detest the all-star game.

I love the 3pt shootout, dunk comp, skills etc but the game itself bores the crap out of me.

May aswell just have those guys out there doing freestyle moves with no 'game' charade going on around it. I appreciate the highlights but its pulling off one of those moves in a real game that gets me going. Like Paul George's windmill...in an all star game thats barely golf clap worthy, but in a real game its flipping insane.

it's only good when it gets tight at the end. i remember teh east won one year thanks to a furious burst led by iverson and marbury. i was cut at the end of it being a westie.

its a showcase event with nothing riding on it.

Amazing how Chris Paul's popularity has declined so quickly. Curry was virtually unknown to the casual fans and bandwagon fans a year ago. When he dropped 54 against NY his popularity took off.

True but I think that game consolidated exactly how good he was even to himself. He has done nothing but build on that since. His performance in the play-offs last season was very impressive and has only continued to go from strength to strength this season. Are you suggesting he is only getting the gig because of one game?

The kid is hot and people have noticed. He is exactly the type you want in the all-star game. Not some guy who hasn't played but done it in years gone by.

I'm biased but see him a lot.

No he's definitely deserving of a spot I'm just arguing that his huge game against NY and a great playoff series have been the major reason for the takeoff in Curry's popularity. Casual and bandwagon fans only watch some highlights and some playoff games most of the time.

That would be majorly to do with the physical contact.
A guy playing NBA All Star game is less likely to get injured in a full serious game than an NFL player is.

Its the whole reason why State of Origin will never come back in a true format. Teams have too much invested in players to have them do a knee during essentially an exhibition game.

I don't think it's a forgone conclusion, he had a couple of months playing at a superstar level but he's dropped off now. Or maybe I'm just reading too much PacersDigest.

Meh, he isnt that great a dunker anyways. That's why he hasnt entered it, he know he could get beat and that would be embarrassing for him. Although having said that, all the judges will just fork out 50's for him for doing like regulation dunks.

All Star Saturday should just be scrapped. The dunk contests havent been good since about 2000.

Do they not realise that its not the format for the dunk contest that has made it poor the last few years but rather having scrubs like Jeremy Evans, that albino guy cant even remember his name, etc etc

Like SAS said, he doesn't owe anybody anything, but it's a bit selfish not have at least one on his resume. Him signing on would bring other big names out as well.

The problem with the dunk contest is that it's all been done. It was great when it first started cos you had pioneers like MJ, Nique, Nance, Webb etc and it wasnt about jumping over a car or putting on a cape and it also wasnt watching some nobody off Charlotte's or Denver's bench taking 13 tries at some ridiculous alley oop and when it doesnt work, he just does a simple dunk.

Nothing worse than watching them try it again and again and again. Even when and if they get it on the 6th or 7th try, it's not impressive anymore because they are just supposed to do it first time, wow the crowd.

The dunk contest needs to go back to less gimmicks, more big names and just flat out dunking. Even then it wouldnt be great as it has all been done. Nobody care is you can do a free throw line dunk, Jordan has done it. Windmill? Nique. Under the leg? Rider, Kobe, Carter.

It's alllll been done.

For a guy with his athleticism, he is actually one of the most boring dunkers ever. He has no style. Even for a guy his size, he doesnt seem to have power either. I mean you think of Jordan's style and 'Nique's power, he doesnt have either. He can jump. But that's about it.

I also just had a great idea to liven up the dunk contest.

Ok so all the dunks have been done before right. So what is left in the dunking world. What I love about a good dunk is when someone gets dunked on right in their face.

So we invite the best 5 or so dunkers in the game. We also invite the best 5 shot blockers in the game. We want big names too. LBJ, George, Durant etc trying to dunk on Howard, A.Davis, Hibbert, D.Jordan.

It's awesome cos when the dunkers get it right, it's a massive facial. But when the shot blockers get it right, well I just love a HUGE denial at the rim that sits a dunker on his ass.

Now that I would watch.
