It's the big one and it's the final one. Wrestler of the year. Who do you think was the best wrestler of 2014? Interesting that three of the nominees are against each other for the title at the Rumble.

Was it Dean Ambrose?

"Uh oh, they sent the cruiserweight division out to get me" - Dean Ambrose

Dean started his year as a part of the Shield that was starting to show cracks. They were finishing up their feud with CM Punk and the only member of the Shield able to beat him in singles competition was Roman Reigns, and Ambrose was getting a big jealous. At the Royal Rumble as Reigns was heading towards a new record for the most elimination Ambrose attempted to eliminate him, but failed and was then eliminated by Reigns. In February WWE remembered that Ambrose was the US champion so he was put into a couple of matches with Mark Henry where he managed to keep his title. At Elimination Chamber Ambrose competed in the 2014 BFWA Match of the Year against the Wyatt Family where he disappeared at the end and the Shield lost. The Shield then turned full face when they began a feud with Kane and squashed him along with the New Age Outlaws at WrestleMania XXX. The Shield then turned their heads to HHH, Randy Orton and Batista also known as Evolution. On April 28 Dean Ambrose became the longest reigning US champion under the WWE banner. He then successfully defended the title in a fatal four way match just before Extreme Rules. At Extreme Rules The Shield defeated Evolution, but this wasn't the end for them. On Raw the next night Dean Ambrose was forced to defend his title in a 20 man battle royal, where he lost the title to Sheamus. Ambrose also failed to win back the title in his rematch. At Payback the Shield then defeated Evolution again in a no holds barred six-man elimination tag match with a clean sweep. The next night however, Batista left and HHH initiated plan B. Plan B was Seth Rollins. Rollins turned on his brothers and destroyed The Shield to become a part of The Authority. Ambrose was not happy that Rollins had turned on him so he did everything he could to end Rollins. He was in the MITB that Rollins won and was in a match against Rollins at Battleground but Ambrose had been ejected from the arena earlier in the night so Rollins claimed the victory via forfeit. However Ambrose returned to the Arena and attacked Rollins. At SummerSlam the two brawled through the crowd in a lumberjack match that Rollins won. Ambrose attacked Rollins again the next night on Raw and they were put against each other again, but this time in a falls count anywhere match. Ambrose lost by knock-out after taking a curb stomp through a cinderblocks. Ambrose was not seen again until Night of Champions where he returned in a taxi to attack Rollins. Ambrose was put in another match against Rollins at Hell in a Cell where he lost after Bray Wyatt interfered. At Survivor Series Ambrose battled Wyatt where Ambrose lost by DQ after attacking Wyatt with tables, a ladder and chairs. They had another match at TLC&S where Ambrose lost after a TV blew up in his face... Dean defeated Bray in a Boot Camp match at Tribute to the Troops and lost to him again in a Miracle on 34th Street Fight.

Or was it Seth Rollins?

"But damn you gotta know me better than that, I'm gonna kill him anyways." - Seth Rollins

Rollins started his year off in the back seat trying to be the glue keeping The Shield together while Ambrose and Reigns were unable to get along with each other. He was eliminated by Reigns in the Rumble and was a part of the MOTY against the Wyatt Family. They had a rematch on Raw where Rollins walked out because he was sick of Reigns and Ambrose's s**t. The Shield reconciled, turned face and then at WrestleMania XXX their time was spent squashing Kane and the New Age Outlaws. The Shield then feuded against Evolution where they won two straight matches against them and Rollins dived off both the titantron and a balcony in the arena. On the Raw after Payback Batista left and Rollins turned his back on The Shield and sold out to The Authority. If you ask him he bought in though. Rollins announced the MITB match and the PPV with the same name and announced himself as the first competitor. He also requested that Ambrose be a part of the match. Rollins won the match after Kane interfered, knocked out Ambrose and held the ladder for Rollins to climb. Ambrose and Rollins were scheduled to have a match at Battleground, but Ambrose attacked Rollins and was removed from the arena and Rollins claimed to win the match via forfeit. The two then eventually had a match at SummerSlam. Rollins won the lumberjack match and then they had another match the next night where Rollins curb stomped Ambrose's head through cinderblocks and put him out for a month. Rollins then tried and failed to do the same to Roman Reigns so they were scheduled to have a match at Night of Champions. Reigns had to have surgery on a hernia so was unable to compete. Rollins claimed another victory by forfeit, then Ambrose returned and attacked him. Later in the night Rollins interfered in the main event and tried to cash in his MITB contract after curb stomping Lesnar, but Cena stopped that from happening. Rollins and Ambrose had another match at Hell in a Cell that Rollins won after Bray Wyatt interfered and attacked Ambrose. At Survivor Series Rollins lead Team Authority against Team Cena in the main event. If Team Authority lost the Authority was removed from power and only John Cena could bring them back, and if Team Cena lost everyone in the team apart from Cena would be fired. The match began with Mark Henry quickly being eliminated by Big Show, Rusev then struck back and eliminated Ryback. Rusev was eliminated after diving through a table. Erick Rowan was eliminated and then Big Show turned on Cena, knocked him out, shook HHH's hand and walked out. Resulting in the elimination of himself and Cena and leaving only Dolph Ziggler as a part of their team. Ziggler came back and eliminated Kane and Luke Harper and just as he was going to eliminate Rollins HHH interfered, attacked the referee and Ziggler and put Rollins on top of Ziggler. Scott Armstrong was called out to make the count and started counting when a crow was heard and Sting made his WWE debut. Sting attacked Armstrong and gave HHH a Death Drop and pulled Ziggler over Rollins, resutling in a loss for Team Authority. The Authority were gone. At TLC Rollins had a tables match against Cena and if he won Cena would no longer be the #1 contender for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. When Big Show was about to attack Cena and help Rollins win Roman Reigns returned and helped Cena with the win. Rollins then defeated John Cena in a cage match on Raw with the help of Brock Lesnar. On the final Raw of the year Edge and Christian were guest hosts and had Rollins as a guest on the Cutting Edge Peep Show. With the help of Big Show and J&J Security they took out Christian and held Edge hostage, threatening to paralyze him if Cena didn't come out and bring The Authority back. Cena brought The Authority back but Rollins planned on stomping Edge anyway. Cena stopped that from happening so The Authority attacked Cena and walked up the ramp to greet HHH and Stephanie to end the year.

Maybe it was BROCK LESNAR

"Ladies and gentlemen, there are WWE Hall of Famers, there are legends, and there are WWE superstars, and the key to that is that they're all plural. They're all lumped together. And then there's only one that stands head and shoulders above the rest on a platform of his own. There's only one beast incarnate. There's only one conquerer of the streak. And there's only one Brock Lesnar." - Paul Heyman

Brock Lesnar began his 2014 by destroying Mark Henry and then obliterating Big Show at the Royal Rumble. Brock Lesnar wanted a WWE World Heavyweight Championship match, but instead was given the opportunity to choose his opponent at WrestleMania XXX and he chose The Undertaker. Nobody thought Brock would ever win, this would just be a filler in the history of the streak. Lesnar won. Brock Lesnar conquered The Undertaker's undefeated streak at Wrestlemania 30. Lesnar was put in a match against John Cena at SummerSlam where he demolished John Cena and won the WWE World Heavyweight Championship after 16 German suplexes and two F-5s. At Night of Champions Lesnar and Cena had a rematch that Brock Lesnar almost lost until Seth Rollins interfered. Rollins attempted to cash in his MITB on Brock but Cena put a stop to that. On the December 15 Raw Lesnar returned to attack Chris Jericho who was in a match against Paul Heyman. Later in the night Lesnar interfered in the Rollins vs Cena cage match and helped Seth Rollins win.

Or is it CENAWINSLOL?

"I'm not gonna beat Brock Lesnar, I'm gonna beat Brock Lesnar's ass!" - John Cena

John Cena's year began by fighting Randy Orton for the newly unified title at the Royal Rumble. The Wyatt Family interfered and helped Orton win. Then during the elimination chamber match, the Wyatt Family interfered again to keep Cena from winning. Cena challenged Wyatt to a match at WrestleMania XXX that Wyatt accepted. Wyatt wanted to turn John Cena into a monster and prove that John Cena created an era of lies. Cena overcame the the urge to become a monster and defeated Bray Wyatt. Wyatt began capturing Cena's fanbase and they had another match at Extreme Rules that Wyatt won after the interferences of Harper, Rowan and a singing child. They had another match at Payback. A last man standing match that Cena won after burying Wyatt under some equipment cases. John Cena then made his way to the main event of Money in the Bank where he won the vacant WWE World Heavyweight Championship in an 8 man ladder match. He successfully defended the title at Battleground in a Fatal 4-Way match. He was then decimated at SummerSlam and lost his title to Brock Lesnar. Cena almost won the title back at Night of Champions but was unsuccessful when Seth Rollins interfered and tried to cash in his MITB briefcase, but Cena didn't allow that to happen. John Cena and Dean Ambrose began feuding over who go to face Seth Rollins at Hell in a Cell, John Cena lost a contract on a pole match and was put in a match against Randy Orton instead. John Cena won that match and also the right to face Brock Lesnar at the Royal Rumble. The Authority then tried to make Cena join them, but he refused and had a match against Team Authority at Survivor Series. John Cena was eliminated by Seth Rollins after being knocked out by The Big Show, however Team Cena still won after Sting debuted, interfered and helped Dolph Ziggler. John Cena was put in a tables match at TLC where if he lost, he would no longer be the #1 contender. Big Show interfered, then Roman Reigns interfered and helped Cena pick up the victory. On the final Raw of the year Rollins was holding Edge hostage and Cena was called out. Cena either had to bring the Authority back, or Edge was going to be paralysed. John Cena brought back The Authority. Rollins was going to break Edge's neck anyway, but Cena didn't allow it to happen. He was then attacked by members of The Authority.

I love the quotes. Dean's is funny, Lesnar's is just badass, Rollins' is dark and sadistic, and Cena's is stupid :D

I'm going to go with Rollins. Has been consistently a great presence throughout the year.

And Seth Rollins is BigFooty's Wrestler of 2014! I might get a new thread up soon that goes over the winners and losers if I have the time.
