That's unfortunate. At least he'll come back early season if you want to hold on to him. Pure goal kickers have their place in category based fantasy footy. Reminds me that I don't have any of them so far.

I do a few players at a time. Only have 10 players ranked which avoids me taking a player with a long term injury but also means I'm not ranking 800 odd players

Have you changed your draft preferences to "manual selection"? If it's on "automatic if ranks" or "automatic selection" then the player will just be selected automatically via your player ranks or the default player ranking without you getting a selection. For some bizarre reason Ultimate Footy default option isn't "manual selection" for slow drafts which is pretty stupid.
