BT last night when Roughy snapped the goal in the first quarter:

"And now Roughead picks up, spins onto his favoured left and ... He just does that like a hot meal"

Help me out... I don't know what he means?

Every time I think of commentators, I'm reminded of the saying, "Please engage brain before putting mouth in gear".

Whereas I appreciate they are not paid to sit there and say nothing (although at times it would be great), shouldn't they at least give SOME thought to it, rather than just blurt it out?

They could take some lessons from the commentators of the round ball game. There are a lot of viewers who would like to know the name of players, instead of what club they came from.

That's a bug bear of mine. They spend more time bringing up nuffy facts and having a good old laugh and joke rather than calling the game.

Bruce has been having little digs here and there at his fellow commentators. His commentary has gone up a notch in my mind as a result of this!

It wasn't at all comical but it was annoying, in the Freo game when Bruce (I think) mentioned Hale Kicked 8 against Geelong once, Harley felt compelled to say despite that Geelong won the game. Idiot! The topic was Hale's ability as a goal kicker, it had nothing to do with Geelong.

BT is just deplorable all round, I can't stand his commentary. When did he become such a twat? He shouldn't be near a TV microphone, especially at night matches, there are plenty who can do a better job.
I understand that he's been told to pump up the new club's tyres, but he was treating the audience like morons throughout Saturday's game.

Was listening to the radio for the Freo game and when Langford kicked the goal from the pocket I think it was Dwayne Russell that said something like:

Every time Sucklings kicking was mentioned, BT would somehow mention Lindsay Gilbee.

Gilbee retired 2 or 3 years ago, was average for 3 seasons before, and was only really decent in 2005-07. Whilst a good kick, he wasn't at sucklings level, especially from outside 50.

list of players more relevant in a Footskill discussion than Gilbee - Hurn, Hodge, Goddard, Drummond, Rich, Birchall, Guerra, Aker, Buckley, Ablett Jnr, Mackenzie, Robert Murphy the list goes on.

I have heard BT mention Gilbee before in other games as well. Not just Darcy at play here.
