Wha? Buddy vs his old team is not the media choice?

Anyway, with all the build up it reminds me of how bad, and how Buddy sluglines there are. I'm getting the feeling we might get something like "Buddy no more" sometime this week. We should have a competition prediciting how the media are going to use his name next.

Actually my point was just how little commentators know, or keep abreast of what is really happening about them. Almost all commentators would rather push their views on us, the football public, than telling how it is.

However we all know this, so we just don't read their trash, or read it cynically. and have a s******, if we're female, or lol if we're male. We should have the right of reply, and dispute the facts, if they were wrong.

Not so much a comical commentary moment as a comical media moment.

All day on SEN yesterday they were playing a promo for Friday nights game, featuring commentary of a goal kicked for Sydney by Franklin. The 'Hawthorn' aspect featured commentary of a goal kicked for Brisbane by Zorko...

Listened in later in the evening and the same Franklin goal was featured but they now had the correct team as their opposition. they had commentary of a Hawthorn goal kicked by... Franklin.

Come on SEN, we've kicked a few goals this season (27 last week), surely it can't be that hard to find commentary of one of them!

Keep in mind I wouldn't call Matt Thompson a footy commentator. So I wouldn't be surprised by how little he knows about the actual game. He's a tabloid trash journo paid to write stories that don't actually have anything to do with footy matches directly. Same with Hutchy and Barrett. Just there for the "scoop".

Not having lived in Australia for many years, I am behind on so many things AFL. However, I did see a video oh matt commentating on football issues, so I assumed he was a commentator. However I do get your point, and agree with you about Hutchy and Barret, and I believe there are others.

Wasn't Matt Thompson the "journalist" - and I use that term very lightly - at whom Clarko directed his "c0ckhead" comment last year?

Full marks to Mark Mclure for pumping up the Hawks on 360 :thumbsu:
He is often quite positive on us.
Also often laughs at others who tip against us, or have a dig. I seem to remember him doing that last finals series.

Poop scoop?

A lot of the commentary tonight was poor. Bruce almost blowing his wad when the Swans hit the front, surely it can't be that difficult to call a game without barracking?

Very few times was it mentioned how undermanned we were, it was just a Swan fest the whole way through.

Clarko takes a massive swipe at Harley in his presser.
It was nice to see the Cheshire-faced prick speechless when they crossed back, for once.

He's the Chesire pig.

I think Bruce has been doing crosswords all week. When he completes them his wife (who probably wears a Cyril mask) tells him he's "Clever", and "Smart" and "Intelligent"

That's all I bloody heard from him tonight. "Oh he's a smart footballer, isn't he?"

Was listening to the ABC commentary on the radio (while watching with the telly volume down) and when Hartung came on David Parkin described him as 'very bright and breezy when he came on last week' o_O (I know what he meant but an odd choice of words to describe a footballer I thought).

I hate Harley commentating on Hawthorn games. I mean, I can take Bruce and Dennis - at least they're being 'fun' - and for all the comments about Bruce barracking, he tends to barrack whoever is playing well...when we hit the front in the third, he started talking us up too. And Dennis always calls the play, rather than being three steps behind like Basil.

But Harley is completely one-eyed. Buddy can collect Birchall with a huge knock to the head, and he barely says a word - but as soon as Roughy contests against McGlynn, "WHY IS THERE CONFUSION HE'S A GONER!" Every opportunity he has to dig at the Hawks, he takes it - such as his comment about only being tested every six weeks. He's ridiculous and really impacts my enjoyment of Friday night footy.

I don't mind people being critical of the Hawks - but he's so false in his praise, and sticks his boots in so far with his criticism, it really sticks in my craw.
