Yeah, he sounds like an FJ pick. One of the phantom drafts on the D&T board mentioned he got 21 tackles in a single game
If we miss Petracca, which it would appear likely, then getting in the next best midfield talent, possibly the best pure midfielder in the draft, we would be adding to a very good young group that would be able to develop together over the next couple of years.

Just look at the size of our potential midfield if we got Brayshaw:
Jackson 188cm 92kg
Thomas 186cm 87kg
Deledio 188cm 88kg
Grigg 190cm 85kg
Cotchin 185cm 85kg
Martin 187cm 89kg
Helbig 185cm 85kg
Conca 185cm 83kg
O'Hanlon 189cm 89kg
Ellis 181cm 81kg
Arnot 180cm 86kg
Vlastuin 187cm 86kg
Lennon 190cm 84kg
Brayshaw 187cm 87kg

That is a big solid group, granted not a lot of pace there but in terms of playing a tough hard contested brand of footy it has all the ingredients.

No to Brayshaw for me. Not that I'd be disappointed with him. Just think he is too similar to what we already have. He's kinda slow and not overly skilled. We need a point of difference in our midfield.

I agree 100%

I'd rather someone like Duggan.

I don't want Petracca.

Skills aren't that great, we need a silky midfielder of big forward.

Have taken Arnot, Helbig, O'Hanlon, Thomas out of that group above because none of them have what it takes to cut it at AFL level. You actually forgot Miles who imo could shoot past Conca very quickly.

Agree with the philosophy though we need to keep building the midfield and make it a huge strength. It won't show for another 18 months or so, but all of a sudden we will have an extremely dangerous group of mids. Brayshaw was rated the class mid of the draft before Petracca started dominating and so either or would be a great result. Eventually all these first rounders stepping up in the middle combined with our guns in Dust, Lids and Cotch will take us forward, I am very confident of that.

Sure enough we'll get the ball but have no one running past.

The reasons I want Brayshaw are because 1. he is a pure midfielder rather than a flanker who we'll ask to play midfield and 2. he is a player that can win his own footy, isn't afraid of doing the defensive work required to be a genuine 2 way midfielder.

The more genuine midfielders we can bring into the side the better we'll be, because IMO it's easier to have a genuine midfielder play as a flanker rather than asking for it to work the other way around for example trying to get Houli to play midfield just doesn't work.

Agree with all that but I think we have enough mids that are one-paced and can't play other positions and aren't elite kicks. He will be a good player, he's just a bit meh for our situation IMO.

I was looking at it purely from the size POV. That group that I put up is as I said is a strong foundation for a midfield group going forward. I believe you are wrong about Arnot Helbig O'Hanlon & Thomas. Watching them live this year I do see them having the ability to play at the AFL level, they might not be stars but they can be very handy role types who when our stars are up and running are the ones who allow them to star.

I'll disagree, I think we have a number that can play other positions. Deledio Martin Cotchin Lennon & O'Hanlon can all play forward. Deledio Vlastuin Conca Ellis & Helbig have shown they can play across the HB line.

I get what you're saying about needing a point of difference in our midfield and I think with the way the draft seems to be stacking up we could easily find that in the latter rounds of the draft.

Gee Brayshaw 2 kicks to get his goal were good. One of the left then the goal on the right. Pickett running down the wing was something else too.

His kicking seems to have improved a fair bit. Could be swayed.

That kick to the leading Dear coming out of the middle on his left foot, Jack would love service like that. In fact I'd like to see our forwards leading out like that.
