I'm never a fan of overagers tbh, I know how much my footy improved in that time and how my ceiling didn't

Interesting that they put a clip of him running towards goal and putting it on the full... @0:46

On his opposite foot.

He looked like a nice kick actually, was taking the kick outs and sending them beyond the 50 metre mark.

And most of his kicks hit targets or were kicked to one-on-ones.

I haven't watched Duggan week in week out, my worry about Duggan is that from what I saw in some tac cup games and the champs, he isn't amazing inside and sometimes has poor games. But he does tick a lot of boxes and as a underage player, is bound to improve on what is already impressive form. I wouldn't mind Richmond taking him with their first pick at all. He ticks a number of boxes, two of them being pace and kicking skills.

Please don't ever mention that used car salesman's name on our sacred forum ever again.....

Well stop posting like some clueless Wallace draft "guru" then.

And left footers are known for not having a good opposite foot, because they don't need one, given most players generally turn to block a right sided kick as most players are right footed. If you look at most gun left footers they probably had no right foot at his age. Kinda weird that Fishfingahz didn't put two and two together.

He's actually pretty good on his right from what I've seen. For a lefty anyway.

From theage

Onballer Jack Steele, a Greater Western Sydney academy player, has drawn interest from Richmond and the Saints, meaning the Giants may be asked to use their second-round pick on him.

Why?
It could be a strategy to force GWS to pass on another player around their 2nd pick.

If you were GWS and somebody bid well and truly overs for a player you had rights too surely you'd just go take him. Means another player will slip to their end of 1st round pick.

Not really clean with his hands. About 50% of those possessions he needed to have two attempts picking up the pill....with the lack of pressure shown in those clips....hmmmm. Also his disposal by hand and foot didn't really look that great either (In the clips).

Jack Steele
Nominated by Greater Western Sydney as an Academy selection, the 18-year-old midfielder will become the first Canberra player to be drafted since Jason Tutt in 2009. A strong onballer who can also play forward, he has excellent poise and balance and is an effective lead-up player, winning All-Australian honours as NSW/ACT's MVP in the NAB AFL Under-18 Championships

Hate threads like this. I don't really follow any of the junior comps so get all my information reading threads like this.

Always get excited and when draft day rolls around, we pick someone else (either because the kid has been drafted already or we rated someone higher) and I end up feeling disappointed in our pick.

I'm just going to sit back and be happy with who we draft. :D

For a lefty :p Most junior footballers don't use their opposite foot anyway, they're just encouraged to improve their preferred foot and junior football doesn't have the pressure that AFL football has which forces players to use their opposite foot. Improving your opposite foot is something that generally happens in the AFL when clubs get players to start kicking on their non preferred, so it can easily improve.

that was the WORST draft video i've ever seen. Not saying he is a poor player, just the highlights package was poor. Why they included him receiving a handball then kicking it out on the full baffles me, and the only time i saw him hit a target was kicking out from after a behind. poor video and i wouldnt draft him in the first round based on this.

I'd be pretty disappointed if we did that.

Jack Steele is a good player, I have had him on my radar for a while and would of been wrapped @31 for jack but always suspected it wouldnt happen and even though he wasnt rated on BF, I was always confident the teams were on to him.

Looks like my favourite's are going early Cockatoo & Steele :(

Jarod Oakley-Nicholls tested really well at the draft camp too
Not saying that Nakia is a JON, but you don't just go from these results, they just confirm what recruiters already suspected

Not sure if that is still the case with the interchange cap coming in, more and more recruiters will focus on kids that already have good stamina

I would like to see how jon would develop in todays richmond.
