Brownlow Medallist
Suns could do worse as a bit of depth at the very least by getting him onboard. Not AFL experience, but so much local league experience counts for something. Mature body and experience with the young list could help.

Roos and Clayton are in the TAC Cup Grandfinal next Saturday I think which means they won't go unnoticed anymore with Clayton kicking 3 today.

Yeah, prelim not GF. Although Clayton got 3 goals he was not named in the best and neither were Roos or Brayshaw. Roos had more of the ball with 17 handball receives but Brayshaw had a very quiet game stats wise.
Me too I'd even take Brayshaw in front of Dayne BeamsBrayshaw being quiet might explain why he dropped to 6 in Knightmare's mock draft. Still has us picking Wright at 4 but I'd take Brayshaw any day of the week if he was available.

But I do like Beams![]()

I can't see McCartin go after Melb or Saints. Melbourne might want a forward after Clarke left and Saints need one when Reiwolt leaves.Saints won't look twice and will snap up Petracca.
Melbourne desperately need a midfielder, that would be Brayshaw, who is the next-best mid after Petracca.
GWS are the surprise packets. They really don't need any more tall timber. 94581923 tall players is enough.
If the drafting goes to plan for the first three picks, we could end up with the best player in the draft (McCartin) with our pick four. Win!
Although, GWS could go full greedy and take McCartin, give him a few games, drop him then dish him off to some other team in a few years.
Hmm, thought I read Riewoldt has a few more in him. Lenny Hayes is gone, so they might want to replace him right away with someone like Petracca.I can't see McCartin go after Melb or Saints. Melbourne might want a forward after Clarke left and Saints need one when Reiwolt leaves.
Agree with everything you've written. Fully expect the Giants and Saints package deal to go through though. Sam McClure who is a sports reporter for 3AW (and posts on BigFooty from time to time) has said that both clubs will likely go through with it if the picks stay as they are.If I were a St Kilda supporter, I'd be enormously hoping that they'd take Petracca. Most agree that he's the best talent in the draft, and they are crying out for a new midfield. Adding Petracca to Billings and Dunstan suddenly starts to show some talent and some hope, and they already have Stanley and White as key forward prospects. Neither could turn out to be long term players, but I think if I were a Saints supporter I'd be desperately hoping the club tried to address the lack of class through the middle before even beginning to worry about the lack of a key forward.
As for the Dees, with Dawes and Hogan I'm not sure they'd need another key forward over a midfielder like Brayshaw, but who knows? GWS have been a bit of a surprise packet with their drafting in the early picks at times, and with Patton, Boyd, Cameron and McCarthy, I can't imagine they'd look at McCartin as a player they need.
I think there really is every chance that McCartin is available at pick 4 - the hurdle, though, is that I don't think we'll have pick 4 (or a top ten pick at all) once the trade period is done.
You think we'll get Beams?? or were you just showing your fustration through angry sacarasm[emoji15]If I were a St Kilda supporter, I'd be enormously hoping that they'd take Petracca. 'Them'.Unnoticed by who?
I was just joking. But I really don't see us getting Beams this year. So I picked the player I thought we had a chance of draftingYou'd take a young player who remains untested at AFL level over a genuine elite player?

I'd be taking a key forward in their position. They're going to be down there for a while and will have other opportunities to pick up quality mids- may as well give whichever key forward they pick up more time to develop.St Kilda could take any number of players and it will meet a need on their list. They are in bad shape. If anything, inside midfielders are a comparative strength of theirs (ie compared to some areas of their list!). The have Armitage and Steven as established mids. And last year they recruited Dunstan and Acres with high draft picks. Not completely awful.
It is true that their talls aren't great as well. Other than in the ruck, they could do with some class at both ends of the ground IMO.
I tend to think that, due to the state of their list, St Kilda can afford to simply take the player who they think is going to be the best footballer. I don't think they need to worry too much about need. If that happens to be Petracca, it obviously increases the chance that McCartin slips. One advantage of Petracca might be that he is forward capable and so could potentially fill a hole in two alternative roles, which increases the flexibility of their list management.
In terms of Melbourne, I think their list could do with Wright and probably McCartin. But Roos has always been a "build a midfield" coach and Brayshaw has a lot going for him in terms of fitting the Roos mould.
