We need a KPF so bad that if we end up with pick 1, there's a good chance the pressure placed on the young bloke to be the player we need will be as immense as that which was placed on Jack Watts. I fear this a little and hope if we so end up in that position we so a better job the Melbourne has done.

Lol. I guess Mitch Clark went to Melbourne because he wanted to win a flag.

With everything we know now, Mitch Clark's motives for leaving Brisbane are not a particularly good example for anything.

I agree with TheBrownDog. The only reason Frawley would come here is if we were prepared to pay him more money than the Demons were, and I don't see how that's in our interests.

I dont think Frawley matches what we need in our list, not for the money it would cost us. Id rather a mid for that money and draft a KPF.

Yep....although Roos moving him forward would have a few teams salivating...Reckoning it was by design it occured against the Blues. Dry up their funds perhaps in seeking a certain Crows Captain the year after...

We have to pay 100% of the cap and we should have a proverbial crap load of extra cash after this year (presumably). If we can throw a bit at a top line KPP I wouldn't be against it. Having said that, the reported 800k figure is too high.

He's played forward for a couple of games- I just don't understand how this means we should go after him. Jake Carlisle looked good as a forward for a while, how's that turned out?
It would be a huge gamble to pay Frawley big money on the off chance that he can be successful long term as a forward. We'd probably just be paying over the odds for a slight upgrade on what currently Merrett offers.

Yup, whilst I like the look of Wright, he does seem more of a ruck/forward, but I guess its early to say, he might go well forward this year. Durdin is plenty tall enough, and it never hurts having someone who can play either end, although obviously for us he would be needed as a forward. I guess I would like to see him get some runs on the board as a forward this year to make sure we dont draft a long term defender.

Isn't Durdin the one who is out with a season ending knee injury before the season even started

Nope. I suspect you're thinking of Jake Lever.

There is always a few players that pop up from no where to come I to calculations early as well. Hopefully a few mids really stand up this year, will give a better indication of KPF depth and quality if there are more quality players up against them. Also might help one or two slip a little.

For some reason I am starting to warm to Durdin. Wright may have the tools but I am a bit skeptical on blokes who are 200cm+ as their bodies can go under extreme stress (increase in injuries) and they are generally not as co ordinated. Durdin is more mobile and imo has a bigger upside from the snippets I have read. Could play at either end as well which is good news.

Durdin is definitely the one to watch this year in terms of pre-draft footy. Repeating what I said a few days ago but I really hope West Adelaide and South Australia give him plenty of time forward this year. He's already relatively proven in a defence.

I reckon Frawley would be perfect for our list if we can get him under $700,000.

The reasons why we should get him are:
*His in that age bracket (24-28) where our list is missing mature bodies and elite talent.
*Frawley, Merrett & Staker can all play up forward and help Brown. Also it would allow us to develop a first round key forward like Peter Wright, by getting the third best defender.
*Also benefits the club having having Frawley, from a post-Jonathan Brown point of view.
*Frawley would be around when the club starts playing finals.
*Passes the "No-Dickhead" policy.
*Injuries & Suspensions to Staker, Merrett, Paine & McGuane has forced the club to play first and second year players whose bodies are not ready for the demands of senior football.

Oh he means Freeman. I see.
We have a first round pick. It is likely to be in the top five to seven. The depth in talls means we are almost certain to have the option to pick one of them there - it may not be Wright, but it would be a developing tall "like Wright".

I agree. We would be stupid not to pick up one of Goddard, Durdin, McCartin, or Wright with our likely top 3 pick. This may become our most important draft in a long time that can add the very key to our next premiership team. We could get a Watts or a Franklin type selection here. Hopefully we get the star.

Tom Lamb has to be starting to work his way up draft lists. If we are happy with the likes of Freeman, Close, Paine or Hammelman to fill the key roles a Darling type would probably fit in well. I liked him quite a bit in the Collingwood game.
