After cruising through some highlight tapes I am a big fan of Jayden Leverde, superb athlete and knows how to use that athleticism, weaving through traffic and running hard into space..
would be a great link-up player for us with only Paparone, Mayes and Bewick really capable of playing the roving link man role atm..

Angus Brayshaw has an AFL ready body and moves well but didn't see what all the hype was about, Connor Blakely looked more rounded as an inside mid..

I really like Ahern and Pickett too, could use their outside run..

also hope we keep a 2nd/3rd round pick to have a crack at Clem Smith.. put him in the back pocket and let him hunt his opponent all day, sign me up for that..
Agree with you on Blakely. Looks really good. Bit of Redden in him IMO.

Also I'd love us to jump on Clem Smith aswell.

...and I'm about 99% certain that the Dees will get the top compensation pick, because that way the AFL gets to help them out without being seen to help them out (again), obscured by their mystery compensation formula. Just smacks of how the AFL likes to go about things.

Is the hutchy on the compensation committee as was stated above Craig Hutchison the reporter? If it is the afl will struggle to get away with cooking the books against a different recommendation.

Wouldn't be surprised if we have 0 live picks in the ND. Looks like most of our picks will be tied up in trades, academy and F/S selections.

Generally seen as a weakfish draft I think. The strong point was meant to be the KPPs but they havnt lived up to the hype. Outside of Petracca and possibly Brayshaw it's a very meh draft. Evident by the fact that Lever could go at 3 and he hasn't even played footy this year iirc. McCartin is seen as the number one forward but he is nowhere near the level of Boyd Hogan Patton etx of the last few years. A lot of impact X factor type players in the first round but they barely manage 20 touches a game and those types are always risky.

Isn't necessarily a bad thing if we're getting value out of our off season moves. Plus at this stage it seems we've done particularly well out of last year's draft, so it won't be that big of an issue.

If we pick up Beams and Ryder with our first two selections, then I'd call it a bloody good thing!

Assuming we get Beams, upgrade Bourke and take the expected Academy/FS kids we'll have 1 senior spot and 4-5 rookie spots left, right?

S: Beams, Hammelman, Dawson, Andrews, Clayton, Bourke+
R: C. Hanley, Roos(?)

Will be interesting to see how we choose to fill that senior spot if we don't have pick 25 to use.

I hope we have one live pick in the draft so we can pick up Cukatoo from NT. (Dunno how you spell it) Holy shit that kid is gonna be a superstar. Takes the game on breaks the lines, x-factor he is just what we need.

I was just about to write the same thing. Amazing considering he didn't play all year!

He would be very handy. Eddie wouldn't like it but it'd be great if we could expand our academy to include the Northern Territory.

Nakia Cockatoo (NT – Mid)
Height: 188cm, Weight: 84kg

Nice height as well, good body shape and from what he has shown can play, it's players like this that show why we still need to have a live pick still in the draft even with everything going on in regards to academy players and trades.

Until "someone" tells us otherwise, we still have Pick 4 in this years Draft, so it's still worth considering who we would take if available.

So, here are some recent clips of one those being discussed, Peter Wright - from 1st half TAC Cup Rnd 17 vs Nth. Ballarat.

(remember, I post clips not highlights - these are warts and all)

Wright is #35 for Calder (white guernsey)

He also only moved to Queensland at about 16 when maverick moved up there to play for Gold Coast. He might be wanting to be drafted back to a footy state (was his family from tassie?). Maverick now at saints - might ask to be traded there to play with him.
