I've often thought it is pretty useless. Why not just throw everyone in the 1 draft. The only reason i think it still holds value is so that after the draft, clubs have a chance to take a breathe, have a look at the list, see who is still available and if anyone they are interested is still there. Has been some decent pick ups from the PSD over the years.

Always thought the idea was that two separate drafts were staggered after the two different list lodgement dates, which gives both players and clubs some flexibility.

Nathan Drummond also stood out. Possible late pick?

Nathan was eligible for last years draft but was passed up by all 18 clubs. Has a nice combination of speed and athleticism and is as hard as the come. Spent most of his year as an overager in the TAC Cup this year and performed pretty well and played a couple of VFL games but didn't do much in them.

Disposals but hand and foot let's him down hell of a lot. Don't see anyone picking him up.

Yeah, a bloke called Rockliffe comes to mind.

If we are filling the list spots with late round picks would love us to re-draft Cal Bartlett. There isn't a player in recent time that I remember who conducted himself in such a classy way through all the adversity, he has made it through another season injury free, he would be a mature body in a reserves team that is missing some beef.

N Cockatoo, R McKenzie, T McLean and one of H Dear or J Foster as a rookie on top of our preselections. Make it happen

So who are we drafting with Pick #5? McCartin or Wright? :D

Hey Cotter how come you didn't rate Hammelman as highly as others did? What's his weaknesses?

Ill actually be interested to see what we do with late picks. Maybe take a punt on some long shots or mature players, or a smokey or too. Could take the likes of a Clarke or ZOB in main draft this year, and rookie academy players.

Will also be interesting to see who/if/how many we upgrade over picking new talent. Id probably upgrade Bourke and ZOB and take a few more academy players as rookies.

Without the GH5 and the resultant list realignment we wouldn't be in the position where we could comfortably cash in pretty much all our best draft chips this year on 2 A grade mids.

Funny how things work out sometimes, especially when you've got quality people in charge. :thumbsu:

If we still have pick #5, who do we take...
I think we should go with Lachie Weller?
And if we manage to land Beans aswell as Bundy then I think we seem pretty thick in the midfield department!! Mccartin could very well be available at our pick if the doggies don't get above us!!
