Not sold on McStay being a KPD. He offers so much more than to just follow someone else around with his athleticism and skills some of his strengths. Could see him being the third tall that occasionally rotates through the midfield/wings who pushes forward and becomes a scoring threat. His handballing is very good already from what I have seen and is probably one of the best at the Lions so he has some potential to be an extractor if the coaches decide to make him into a fully fledged utility.
What do you think of his thighs?

Hard to not get just a little bit excited about Keays next year. Had the highest scoring fantasy average at the Champs, not bad for a 17 year old.

Top 10 Fantasy Scorers (Average) - 2014 Under-18 Championships

1. Ben Keays (Qld): 110 points/game

2. Tim Jones (Tas): 106 points/game
3. Christian Petracca (Vic Metro): 99 points/game
4. Abraham Ankers (NT): 98 points/game
=5. Caleb Daniel (SA): 93 points/game
=5. Erin Wasley-Black (NT): 93 points/game
7. Isaac Heeney (NSW/ACT): 92 points/game
8. Damien Cavka (Vic Metro): 90 points/game
9. Josh McGuinness (Tas): 89 points/game

The point of interest will be what pick we have to use on him I suspect.
And according to Callum Twomey we might be into McGuinness.

We've got Clarke and an untested Andrews as our likely future Key Defenders, with Gardiner better suited to a different role. A mature age Key Defender would be very handy.

I think Jake Wilson(would add to our list of red heads unless he has dyed his hair) and Matt Sully would be far better options than Hartley.

Wilson is big, strong and beats his opponents more often than not. Only 23.

Brett Anderson has us taking Josh McGuinness and Nic Newman in his final Phantom Draft. I would be quite happy with that result.

Potentially some of the best thighs I have seen. Nice structure and aren't overly big allowing him to keep his power and explosiveness but not get slowed down and fatigued.
I smell a thesis.

McCartin to the Lions next year after Aish decides to go home and St Kilda get Dangerfield?

One of the 17 teams before us in the draft would place a bid so we would be giving up our first pick. Interesting to see what happens with father son/academy selections. Might even have to give up our first pick and third or fourth for Keays.

Liked purely for the above.

We're so far down that I'd be betting the club probably has about 10 potential names for our first pick because they have no idea who might be left by the time we get to talk. Hopefully we can find a gold nugget, but honeslty think we'll likely pick someone who might take a couple of years to develop through reserves.

What happens if we get pick 12 next year and Keays gets a bid at pick 8 or so. Is that fair to say that we will not have to pay our 3rd or 4th rounder plus 1st pick on him? compared to us getting pick 12 and he gets pick 3 bid on him then I would imagine we would have to give up 1st and 3rd or 4th. Is that how the new academy bidding is going to take place or is it still up the the nuffies at AFL house? Thought the clubs determined what a player is worth...

No one knows how it will work next year. The AFL ran another system side by side this year to see how different it would be. There hasn't been any official explanation on how that test worked or what the rules around it were, nor whether it would be introduced next season or not. So far everything about it has been pure speculation.
