With how we have drafted this year, starting to agree with those who suggested earlier that we might see Andrews more as a ruck than anything else. We might have 3 mature aged ruckmen but Smith is the only one under 26.

will be interesting to see where we use him and what we see him as. Defender or forward. Could certainly pinch hit in the ruck down the track if needed.

I also wouldn't be surprised if the club has decreased its value of ruckman (particularly non-QLD ruckman) a lot since the Billy Longer saga. There are usually a few late in their careers who you can pick up quite cheap. If you can spend a 4th round pick every 3 or 4 years on a Ben Hudson, or a Trent West, then there's not really any need to worry too much on the development side - particularly the ones who may just up-and-leave back to their home states after a couple of years...

Qld does produce more ruck-sized players than most other positions, relatively speaking. Not sure if that will continue under the Academy system but it was certainly prevalent when the Qld development system was focused on recruiting talent from other sports.

Totally - and I think that's where we'll head... develop mostly QLD juniors owing to the time it takes, get stopgaps for 3 or 4 years at a time who are leftover from other clubs cheap.

Think our ruck stocks are pretty healthy for now. We will look to maybe use the academy to keep bringing through some project players for the future, but agree i don't think we will target or draft a ruck specifically, not yet anyway. Outside of our 3 mature rucks we have Freeman, Smith and Andrews who are all ruck height. 0 of them are proven, but there is something there for the moment.

Did any boys from the Recruit get drafted other than the winner and the Irish bloke?

Didn't spot any of the names. Moreland seemed like a decent option.

So do we have a Bendigo academy as well as Queensland and Tasmanian as we have drafted 2 Pioneers. Great news for Australia's greatest regional city.

Pretty happy with the boys we just picked up. Was really hoping for Gowers but Evans is a good addition. Thought he was unlucky not to go in the nation draft actually.

Beasley has the potential to replace Patfull.

I'm actually more excited about who we've picked up in the rookie draft than I am about the boys we got in the national draft.

Bourke must be feeling the heat, since we keep picking up like him.

I was going to say Toowoomba, but went for the beaches instead.
Toowomba has an awesome festival called Easterfest but aparrt from that Bendigo kills it, As for Newcastle its a nce place if you want to spend your life looking at Coal.
