Based solely off Paige Cardona's tweet's it appears that Goddard is playing a really good game.

In light of that information, can anyone confirm Goddard was actually on the field today? ;)

Obviously a cunning plan by Collingwood to get him later in the draft.
Don't be fooled, he'd be a lock for pick 1 if he wasn't F/S.

Won't work, recruiters would know how good he is. Haven't seen him play, is he clearly ahead of Wright, McCartin, Durdin, Goddard and Brayshaw?

I still like the sound of McCartin and his 1v1 marking ability. Seems to be a natural forward and more of a FF type, which compliments the likes of Close pretty good. Also like that he is friends with Taylor and Gardiner, might help combat the go home factor.

I am definetely leaning towards McCartin. I like what I hear about him with his good hands and attacking the packs and splitting them when going for marks. A true KPF who excels at that position.
I actually can see Wright slide a few places. Everyone is quite even with no stand out player being that nominal pick 1.

I think it depends on whether or not Leppa and Schwab want to persist with the West/Leuey ruck combination. If we want a ruck who can offer more up forward we might go with Wright or if we want to play one of the rucks inside 50 we may choose McMartin or Durdin.

We simply might not rate him.

Not sure how many list spots we would want to allocate to project ruckmen. We've committed to Archie Smith and Leppa seemed to indicate in this week's Fancast that he is coming on more quickly than anticipated. Even a chance of debuting before Leuey's scheduled return.

For srs?

Would there be any reason why no one from the Lions attended the trial today of Mason Cox?
You made me think of this bloke - did the odd good trial:

I seem to be in the minority but I'd really like it if we drafted Durdin with our first pick. He's got a good size, nice kick especially around the ground, a solid mark and overall very versatile which would compliment our side really well and seems to be the type of player we're after.

Plus he's a SA boy which would follow the trend of our recent round one picks ;)

I don't see us as a club in the right phase to be taking very speculative American athletes without footy history. We have a few project players on the boil and this latest crop from outside footy might prove quite good but I still think we pick our projects and work on them rather than have a go at any passing athlete in the hope we snag a good one. If our next project is an American basketballer, great, but I think we have enough for the moment. Once we see which projects have a future and which don't, we can look for the next rookie to work on. If Archie works out for us we have done very well. By the sounds of it he is giving it a real go and he probably plays in the one position where you'd think a pure athlete might be able to develop into a useful footy player. If he later develops some skill as a part time forward then we will really have done well out of him.

I highly doubt we'd stand a chance to get Mason Cox.
- Do we have money to spend developing this kid?
- We already have Archie as a project ruck, it imbalances the list a bit to have another. It isn't really necessary.
- Archie and Cox would have to share the ruck load in the reserves and rest forward- I reckon they'd both need as much ruck time as possible.
- If he sees our facilities and Collingwood's, well.... :(
- We didn't go to this American combine which probably rules us out.
