What's the go with Tyler Roos?

Any chance we'll be picking him up in this year's draft?

From what I saw at the Champs on TV this week, this kid looks like a beauty...Pickett,Petracca and Brayshaw should all go in the top ten IMO.

I am spitting chips at Collingwood getting Darcy Moore handed to them...they must be made to use their first rounder.

Looking forward to this week's games.

I'd be more to happy to use a top 15 pick on Ahern personally. One thing we still lack is a player or two with genuine speed or x factor. So if Warren mentioned we want a speedy mid, he'd certainly fit the bill.

We'd be mad not to make them use there first rounder on Moore.

I would be happy to pick Durdin up. We don't really ave a defender who is going to be able to match it with these huge 200cm+ forwards that are coming into the competition lately.

Durdin would be a wasted pick IMO, we've got so many promising defenders coming through and Bourke hasn't even debuted yet. If we can't get Wright or Mccratin I'd love to draft Lachie Weller - this guy is all class, such elite skills.

Zorko? Green? Taylor? Hanley?

I think this quick midfielder we want will have to play predominantly inside. None of the players I mentioned above are first string onball players and we might just lack that Dangerfield-like drive out of a pack. We have some pace on the outside though.
I also really hope we try and get a shut down small defender from somewhere.

Hanley and Zorko(kicking often lets him down) probably the only two that break lines. Neither have the pace or line breaking ability of Ahern.

I agree someone that can burst out of the packs like Danger would be good. Not really anyone around that springs to mind from this years crop that I'd take.

A shut down defender is also a high priority of mine too.

We dont have much in the way of key defenders. Certainly no proven performers. I think this is something we can try address via FA over the next year or two though.

We may have found a medium shutdown player in Bewick last night.

I think Petracca has good speed and strength and has shown he can potentially be this sort of player.

I disagree. You can't waste picks on high end talent. If he is deemed the best available I have no problem with us selecting Durdin. Clarke is really the only young KPD we have along with Gardiner who has shown he can equally play small. Bourke is a rookie listed player and has shown some potential but he's far from a sure thing particularly at his height.

Weller is classy and I would like him also but our pick won't be at the right range for him unless he somehow slips to our 2nd which I can't see happening.

We have Clarke McStay and Brouke as shutdown defenders we need a running tall defender much like Grant Birchall hopping that Darcy Gardiner can become that player but would still want to draft one

Think you'll find McStay is more of a rounding type defender rather than key defender. But even outside of him, we do indeed need another rebounding type defender. Patfull and Adcock are starting to get towards the end, so we need to start to think about replacing them. We have Clarke playing Senior footy, otherwise there is Bourke who may or might not make it, Gardiner who is a bit on the short side and might be better suited as a 3rd tall defender. We lack another key sized defender, especially someone able to play deeper on the bigger blokes. I think Clarke is more suited as a defender higher up at CHB. Whilst he sometimes gets lost, he is better defending on the move rather than one on one show of strength.

I am currently hoping to dear god Goose can go another year.

Mcstay Is more like the Birchall running defender than Gardiner who is a shutdown player.

We also have Cutler and Wearden if he stays on the list who'd could play this role and can add Dawson too.

There's probably a reason McStay debuted before Bourke and Bourke has been moved forward in the reserves. He clearly is some way off playing at the elite level. He also will struggle against the big key forwards. Our key back depth isn't great. Durdin can also play forward and pinch hit in the ruck.

Yeah, fair points. I'm usually biased with needs over best available, I just keep thinking of that time we went "best available" with Longer isn't of getting a "need" in Tomlinson. I guess if we get a few more wins on the board we could easily finish anywhere from 11-14 and then the first selection becomes very interesting.

They're different players, one is a run and carry type while the other one is a shut down/intercept type. Bourke has been playing well all year and is likely to make his debut this year if you believe what Leppa says. I also never said Bourke would play as a key defender - at 193cm he's a good height and size to play the Patfull role but that's about it.

But Patfull is our best defender

I hope we take Witt with our 2nd pick; he's a Birchall clone if I ever saw one. Polish across h/b would be great, allowing Rich to work into the midfield.
do you mean Harrison Wigg? has to be an U18 AA this year

would think that Wright/McCartin would be perfect for you at your first

I hope GWS

Bourke looked good in the pre-season games - mobile half back type. 193cm is tall enough for a KPD provided he puts on the necessary muscle. But he seems to play shorter than his height - more a versatile running back, al la Patfull. Which is not a bad example to follow (is it Kezz?)

All depends on where we finish if we finish 4 to 5 I'd say we take a midfielder probably Weller being the local kid
Oh I hope you do take Weller, just to annoy Gold Coast mostly ;)

I think Bulldogs might do the same, unless a KPP (that wasn't Goddard) got there

Do you think you'll be taking both Dawson and Hammelmann?

I was sitting right in front of the Dogs recruiters, eavesdropping :p pretending to talk to others

I hope so but would love to get them in the third and fourth round :D
