Another example.

Let's assume this draft has 18yo NRiewoldt, MVoss and Akermanis. They are the 3 best players in the draft.

We have pick 2, 20 and 38.

The club with pick 1 bids on all 3.

We draft all 3 players, using our first, second and third round picks.

That's called Leppa's wet dream.!
That's my wet dream!

I stand to be corrected, but isn't Beenleigh part of the GC zone? Meaning Voss would also go to the Suns if we came through now?
IIRC, it depends which part of that area he lived in.

Beenleigh? Try Morningside.

Yeah, is it based on where you live or what club you played your footy at? I thought it was the former but maybe the latter would make more sense.

The whole thing seems a bit ridiculous anyway. Not knowing a lot about SE QLD geography I find it strange that there's any part of Brisbane zoned to the Suns.

Beenleigh is zoned to Gold Coast, but Springwood which is I believe where he played junior footy is in the Lions zone. In Logan City LGA the delineation is the Logan Motorway, the northern boundaries of the suburbs of Tanah Merah and Loganholme.

In know it really doesn't matter as this is a hypothetical discussion, just though that people might not have seen this:

What's the go with Tyler Roos?

Any chance we'll be picking him up in this year's draft?

A few weeks ago on future stars Shifter Sheehan (that's the draft guru isn't it?) suggested roos and Scott Clayton's kid were both 'in the mix' to be father son selections for us. My vague recollection is he said Clayton's kid was more likely than roos. Seemed to think they might attract late round picks and we might choose not to match. Becomes especially complex for us with potentially 2 f/s and from the above potentially 2 academy players to select. Would tie up a lot of draft picks before the trade period and draft day itself.limits flexibility to fill a need or grab a surprise drifter, or an experienced player...

Roos only played 95 games for Sydney or something so he's only eligible for us

Here's an article that mentions both...

There's also the chance Roos/Clayton pull the ol' Marc Murphy. Obviously they won't be as highly sought after as Murphy was but there's always a chance. Not so worried on Clayton declining us (big Lions fan apparently) but Roos, not so sure

That probably wouldn't be the smartest move, given that both are far from certainties to be drafted at all(at this stage anyway).

Yeah no.

If we sign them, they'd be over the moon, they're speculative draft picks. They would have known for a very long time if they get drafted they're likely going to Brisbane. Paul Roos has said some nice things about the merged club in the past too, I assume they've rubbed off on Tyler.

I'm watching the QLD v NSW/ACT game and apparently Liam Dawson isn't playing because he has a fractured Scapula. 4-6 weeks on the sideline, thankfully he doesn't need surgery.

Keyes, Ubergang and Hammelman look likely players. Hammelman in a lot of contests.

Very impressive having Keayes getting mentioned so much for an under age player. I go into every year, expecting nothing from our academy selections expect maybe a handfull of games before being delisted in a few years time, because reality is, most won't make it. I don't want to buy into hype about players and be disappointed every year. Also means when we do nail a selection, it feels like more of a bonus.

Both Uber and Hamm playing up forward ?

Yep both up forward. Hamm taken a quite few marks on the lead but can't convert, and again has just missed. Uebergang has taken a couple as well. I haven't really spotted Andrews yet who I was hoping would impress.

Keays leading possession winner on the ground. I can see where the Heeney hype comes from- very classy.

Didn't notice Keayes too much in the first but he has come to life in the second. Great running goal from 40 on the left. Very good size around 183 and already 78 kg. I hope Eddie doesn't whinge too much about this kid in his draft year next year.

Uber has gone quiet but Hamm really in the thick of it up forward. 197 cm and only 86 kgs but he's killing his man on the lead. His stats won't show it at the end of the game but he has hit a few packs and contests hard. Looks ok at ground level, was fumbly in the first quarter as was everyone else though.

Heeney was ok, not sure he's a top 3 player though.

First time seeing big patty in action. Like what I see. Don't see too much wrong with his kicking as some have mentioned. Great below his knees. Also that Webb is very handy for vic. Number 15

First time I've seen McCartin play live and I'm totally the other way. He just seems a one trick pony in lead > mark > shot at goal...which may work well in juniors, but isn't how AFL is played these days. With the extra numbers most teams have back; I can really see him struggling to make an impact unless it's delivered lace out (which won't be all that often at a bottom end team)

He's obviously carrying an extra 5-7kg of puppy fat, but just looks useless after the first contest. Being 193cm, he'd need to be a lot more athletic to be taken at #1 for mine. Several times he was 10m behind his opponent after a spoil came to ground.

Not sure what his testing results will be, but they'd want to be good.

That's cool. I'm prepared to give him some slack.Apparently under done though injury. Although I've got nothing to compare to having only seen him this once. With the other type of forwards we seem to be grooming, I don't mind the idea of a genuine forward.if that makes sense. Whether he goes pick one or not remains to be seen.I'd like to see a bit more of him.
