why would frawley be rated that high with a pick
Purely based on salary. If he gets a high enough salary from someone then Dees get a first round pick after their first round pick. Thems the rules. Same compo as franklin

How much was Brennan on for his first Suns contract? Bock for that matter.
Not sure but free agency calcs are different to the expansion teams from memory

We should be melbourne, not sure about the rest. I think pick 2-4 is likely. Us v Melb is essential for the #2 pick.

Even at 4 we might still get the likes of Wright. I can see Saints going McCartin, Melb going Petracca at #2. IF they get #3 priority pick, which is still unknown at this point, I think Durdin might actually be a better fit for them. Leaving Wright for us at #4, assuming our recruiters rate him to play forward.

I agree with what has been said previously, if Frawley goes, it is because he wants finals, he has said as much. That means he wont go the biggest offer, he will go to the strongest club. Perhaps Essendon or the Pies perhaps.

Agree with this.

From memory, Roos has stated an aversion to taking big guys with really high picks on the basis they are too risky. Circumstances might dictate otherwise given the (relatively) highly rated talls in this draft and the departures of Clark and Frawley, but it seems to me pretty plausible he would take Petracca with pick 2 if they had it. They would only get the following pick if Frawley left, in which case I agree Durdin would at least look like a better fit, being (reportedly) a backman who can swing forward.

I think Hawks, Geelong or Gold Coast are the rumored clubs.

Another mock which features H-man and Dawson. http://boundforglorynews.com/alex-takles-phantom-draft/

20. Brisbane Lions – Matthew Hammelmann (Morningside)
Height: 198 cm
Weight: 88 kg
Player Comparison: Josh Jenkins

Hammelmann is a big, tall key forward who can go through the ruck and do a serviceable job in there. He is really strong on the lead, and hits the ball at top pace and takes it as far out in the hands as possible which makes it extremely hard to defend him on the lead. He needs to take advantage of his opportunities on goal as he seems to get a few opportunities a game but only kicks one or two goals. He is still skinny and not really a big physical presence but as he fills out he has a lot of potential to be a handy second forward.

37. Brisbane Lions – Liam Dawson (Aspley)
Height: 188 cm
Weight: 83 kg
Player Comparison: James Kelly

Dawson burst onto the scene last year as a defender for Queensland, with his form earning him plaudits and an AIS Academy invitation. He is a good user of the ball and can accumulate possessions through the midfield with ease. He can make some mistakes with the ball and put his teammates under pressure by being slow to make decisions but he is still learning to play in the middle at a higher level and he is generally a good decision maker when coming off half back. Injury ruined his chances of showing what he can do on the big stage of the Champs but it should allow the Lions to take him with a later pick. Whatever happens, it is hard to see the Lions passing on him.

The Josh Jenkins comparison I don't see for Hammelman, more Josh Kennedy (WC) but I do like the James Kelly comparison for Dawson. Also won't be finishing last.

The Josh Jenkins comparison I don't see for Hammelman

Yeah, that's a strange one. If anything, I see Jenkins as a bit of a bash em up type tall forward, hits packs really hard and takes the big contested mark. The knock on Hammelman (if there is one) is his physicality.

On (very) limited viewing, including the footage linked above, I think that is a really good comparison. A few of his takes running fast back at the kicker are very reminiscent of Kennedy.

With Lenny announcing his immediate retirement, don't think it's out of the question the saints look at Petracca?

Yeah I was thinking the same a few days ago but then McCartin went and kicked 7.5. Sigh.
