And Longer will cop yet another ruckman ahead of him in the pecking order. Everything's coming up Longer!

Certainly starts to look like GWS, Saints and Lions will be bottom 3, just depends in what order. Durdin, McCartin and Wright the probable top 3 picks, but you never know who might come from the clouds. Certainly all 3 of those teams need those types of talls though.

Have you actually seen our draw we could be the team that still has first choice
I did see the draw and it might just be me but I think the Saints have put the cue in the rack.

Is McCartin injured he dosen't seem to be in best the last two weeks
Could be tanking, doesn't want to join the mighty lions ?

From memory he played the first game, but haven't seen him in any game reports since. I think the game V SA it was noted he was out due to injury, so he has missed some game time.

He isn't as tall, but gee it would be good to have a genuine strong marker up forward. Don't always need to be the tallest bloke if you are excellent at reading the ball, the drop and use your body very well.

In Vic Metro's defeat of SA Wright dominated the ruck, had 16 disposals, 10 marks and finished with 3 goals, early days for him but he seems exactly the player we need ruck/forward who can dominate a game.

I think I have mentioned him before but I hope we are puting a lot of work into geting Conor McKenna to the Lions. Probably the best Irish prospect to come along in quite some time. He showed up a lot of the AIS kids in Europe and whoever gets him is going to get a player.

Give him the direct line to Pierce . I do agree with you here. We have to start looking at all avenues IMO.

I don't care what place we finish on the ladder as long as the boys develop and have goals in front of them. One player can not save a team, spirit does and spirit builds through believing in each other. Let's just play our guts out all year, take whatever draft pick we get and know that he wants to give his all for the Lions cause everyone else does as well. I don't care what number you are, just have the desire to be your better every day will do me fine.

I did make a joke last week about Mitch Thorp but is it actually time to consider taking him with a late selection or using a rookie spot on him? One of our better decisions in recent years was taking the punt on Goose Maguire so I am hoping we are considering Mitch. Does anyone have any info on how he has played this season?

Also, hasn't Thorp evolved his game into a long leading, marking link man CHF type role. Not sure that is what we need with Paparone and Close already on the list.

We need a contested marking type that prowls the forward 50 and hits the scoreboard.

Agree, Close and Paps can play lead up roles, along with Stakes if he can get back. Marking type players are much harder. Outside of Brown, West and McGuane are our best contested marks.

It does make the discussion on Wright or McCartin interesting in terms of preference.
