Wright probably won't improve much in terms of size, speed or agility. He looks really slow and really struggled from the video footage. I have heard that he doesn't have the best vertical jump either. He may get found out at the next level with defenders and other ruckmen being the same size as him. I guess his football smarts would improve but lacking the athleticism makes it a lot harder to do what is needed. Was keen on him earlier in the year but I have a gut feeling about him that I don't like. Would prefer McCartin but he would most likely be snapped up by the Saints. Which really only leaves the best midfielder in the draft (so far) being either Brayshaw or Petracca. Personally I would go for Petracca who is a different type than what we have at the moment.

Better a 9/10 midfielder than a 6/10 key forward in my opinion.

As much as we need a replacement for Browny; he's not in this draft :(

If you can post tomorrow night's lotto numbers, it would be greatly appreciated.

We rank last for inside 50's so we need more talent in the middle too :thumbsu:
Are there any 9/10 midfielders in this draft?
I haven't heard any such suggestions.

What do you base this on?

He looks really slow because he failed to run down a small with elite speed who had a head start.

New bench mark for tall forwards people. If you can't run down Lewis Jetta you are too slow and therefore a dud and I hope we don't draft you.

He struggled and doesn't have a very clean running action.

You do realise that video was illustrating the point that Wright apparently isn't that slow?
Can't run down one of the quicker players in the draft? Put a line through him.

I honestly don't give a shit who he was running against, could have been Bolt for all I care. I just just pointing out that his action was poor, was not a smooth and energy conserving in any way. Would struggle to play ruck at AFL level and I have doubt over his mobility and smarts to play as the target forward (compared to McCartin for instance). Also the taller and larger draftee players seem to get injured a lot more frequent which is what we don't want.

I have to agree... unless a forward is an absoulte standout we must go with best talent. I would hate us to have a Grant or Butcher drafted in just because "we needed a forward". Our midfield is pretty damn average as much as our forward line is you could argue. We need to pick an elite talent whether that be a forward or back

You are making me laugh dude please stop! I like the way you make these statements about what he can and can't do although it's fairly obvious you haven't even watched him play in a single game. NFI

Sounds like the sort of thinking that got Richmond Tambling instead of Franklin.

Of course you could post an example where the opposite sort of situation occurred.

All any of it shows is that there are no guarantees in the draft.

Listening to SEN the other day over the last ten years for first round draft picks in and under players have a strike rate of approx 80% where as key position are only about 30%. This could play on the minds of some recruiters seeing a decent KP fall this year.

I reckon you'd see an equivalent sort of relative disparity across all rounds of the draft. This would merely tell us what we already know... quality key forwards are a rarity full stop.

I would rather avoid the Berger/Selwood draft mistake ;).... Seriously though, I know its all hindsight etc... Just saying we shouldnt be lured to pick a tall forward 1st up just because Brown retires... if a mid is too good to pass up I want us to get him. Plenty of time for the player ratings to play out though

You can clearly see he struggles with the running FFS, are you ******* blind?

Notice to AFL recruiters and knowledgable AFL draft watchers everywhere. Contrary to your own good judgment Size Matters says Wright can't run and therefore sucks and you are all wrong.

Everyone wrong cept Size Matter okey dokey?
