No, hence the question so that I could understand his attributes. Thanks for clarity.

Mccartin was the one who broke Dom Sheeds collarbone in a contest last year, I've tried to find footage of it but I can't find it anywhere.

With McCartin I was just unsure about his professional work ethic considering I have heard he is meant to be on top of those things. Was unsure as he does have a bit of fat on him.

Considering the kid has got to this level despite having severe diabetes and up to 7 injections some days I wouldn't be too worried about his work ethic or commitment

By-the-by, I had a chat with an endocrinologist friend about whether there'd be any concerns with McCartin's diabetes. Was told "Nope. There are plenty of olympic athletes who do fine, so he'll be right if he's responsible. Where there might be a very minor impact is with team-bonding. He won't be able to booze-on with the boys."

So this friend's a league fan then.

Whacky idea I know - but I'd like to think that every reasonable player would understand his situation if he couldn't have a drink with his mates...

I asked a sports medicine doctor the same thing with a similar response. Apparently it's 'easier' in a professional club setting because things like diet are controlled so much by clubs.

McCartin comes to the bench once each quarter to check his blood sugar levels, this is done as more of a precaution rather than necessity. With all the interchanges that happen I don't see this as an issue at all.

I never found this to be a problem personally. He'll be sweet as.

I don't think anybody has questioned these things.
Well I mean...

Edit: Beaten to it by that superstar dlanod

So it now looks like we'll have pick 5 if we beat Melbourne (and Frawley leaves) or pick 3 if we lose to Melbourne.

Will be very interesting if Wright and McCartin go if we'll take the best mid or someone like Durdin or Goddard.

Will also depend on our academy picks given we could take anywhere between 1 and 3 KPPs from the academy.

I was sold on Wright after seeing his performance at Skilled v the falcons this year, my view has changed now though. I don't see Wright as just a pure forward, I think he's 60% ruck & 40% forward at the top level. The reason I've changed my view is mainly because of the emergence of Stef Martin. I would like to keep Stef but I feel his trade currency is through the roof at the moment. If we were to draft Wright though it'd mean we would have 6 ruckman on our list, assuming Michael isn't delisted. I could be wrong though, maybe Wright can be a pure forward in the AFL system.

Yeah I've entered my traditional yearly cognitive dissonance phase in terms of the draft where the faults of players seem so much more apparent than their positives.

I've cooled big time on Wright. He will be a really good fit for a club, but it ain't us.

If we have our second pick free should we look at a small, quick lockdown type defender? Seems to be a position we don't really have anyone to fill ATM. Cutler could possibly get there but he's too valuable offensively.

I'd be hoping we can trade/FA a 'fringe' player in with the attributes to do this, unless there's someone who really fits the bill that's available at a suitable pick for us. It is something we need, agreed.

Just a question for fun (partly out of interest, partly out of not knowing much), if we hypothetically get pick 5 and the top 4 taken are McCartin, Wright, Petracca and Durdin, who would you like the club to take?

If Brayshaw is still available by then, I'd be seriously gobsmacked. We could also end up with someone like Marchbank.

Still a lot to play out in regards to where we finish. Our first pick can range from 2 to 5 depending on our game vs Melb and then Melb vs GWS. In regards to Wright I agree with us not taking him but if we do finish with pick five and he's still there then icant see us passing.
