On a few of the recent mentions:

McKenna is the best Irish prospect to come along in a number of years. I think he would easily fit into the top 20 this year if he went into the draft and possibly higher than that. He would be a speculative pick for sure but he has an abundance of talent. I hope we are moving heaven and earth to get him as he could be one of the difference makers in years to come.

Lamb I also really rate. As talented as anyone running around and I take him even if he has a few issues that need sorting out. I am very much an advocate of getting the best talent into a squad and letting the staff sort out any superfluous issues.

Andrews I would not be surprised if he was flying up a lot of team's draft boards. He is an excellent package and I am sure a few teams would love to poach him if they could.

In an open market we'd be low chances to get anyone's signature but with the Irish guys we might just have the inside running.

"Sure, you can go to a sexy big Melbourne club that hasn't had an Irish success story in two decades, or you can live in the Sun, play for a club that has turned an Irish kid into potentially a top 10 player in the league, and have said player as your mentor..."

Having Hanley has to be a plus with getting Irish recruits. Hanley has become one of the better players in the AFL, and id be wanting to play with him if I was making the switch.

Hopefully our beefed up development and welfare teams will encourage us to look at drafting more irish and indigenous recruits.

As I understand it, Hanley had/has a fairly high profile there too so his success with us could actually be a meaningful factor.

Massive selling point. Sure the Lions have already got Pearce to have a chat to the lad.

How would you get him, does he go in the ND like everyone else? Or does he choose where he wants to go?

Category B rookie. Can sign with whoever he likes.

Geese, that makes me more hopeful. Get Hanley onto him.
Where is Mekeeva? Oh.....

But surely, the club would be getting Hanley to talk to him.
Always a little nervous about the irish. They get homesick and want to play that gaelic football, I remember Hanley nearly went back to Ireland to play Gaelic 2 years ago.

Massive beat up (wishful thinking) by the Irish media. Was absolutely never going anywhere.

Low risk, high reward as Category B rookies. Nothing to be nervous about.

They seem to generally describe him as a key forward/defender but he can also pinch-hit in the ruck and has a fair reach/leap:

I wonder what we'll do with Uebergang, Jackson and Andrews.
All different kinds of players from what I understand, but you can only have so many KPPs on the list.

Have to get Uebergang on name alone
