Schwab was just interviewed at the Gabba.

Said we can expect 3-4 Academy players this year and they are looking very closely at Clayton and Roos as well.

FWIW, TAC Future Stars had us taking Brayshaw with pick 4, following Wright (1.StK), Petracca (2. Melb) and McCartin (3. GWS).

NFI who Brayshaw is, which says more about how little I know outside of 4-5 players.

Brayshaw was the consensus number 1 before Championships. Decent mid type.

I am not personally a fan of Roos, saw him play a bit and not too impressed. Never seen Clayton.
Probably means we get Andrews, our new gorilla defender, Dawson and Hammelmann

I'm happy if we pick up with Brayshaw provided McCartin or Wright aren't there. I was half watching a really boring Vic Metro games this year and every time I looked up during the first he was getting the ball. Most draft watchers suggest he would probably be ready to go next year too.

Do you know if Brayshaw is quick or just another bull who gets the ball like Rockiff

2.82sec 20m sprint though I didn't really notice it when I watched the Foxtel televised games. Played as a big bodied inside midfielder, and was quite good in the limited games I saw.

I'm no expert but he seems deceptively quick in contrast to his playing style. Apparently tests very well over 20m. Have to wait to the combine for confirmation I guess.

edit: or wait for jasrulz to post.

It's been said brayshaw has fantastic vision and decision making with really quick hands. Gets good accumulation too as an extractor.. sounds like a good fit.

On Brayshaw, I am pretty sure the club put a clause in the constitution after the AGM last year to never hire someone called Angus again.

I may not have heard correctly but I thought he said we were "looking" at 3 or 4 academy guys, rather than saying we'll draft 3 or 4.

Fair enough. Reckon the four are Dawson, Hammelmann, Andrews and Uebergang.

What combination we take will be interesting, especially out of Hammer/Uber.

It will be interesting to see how it pans out and what bids our players get. Eg, we very well might want our 2nd pick live. Which means if say Andrews got a high bid, we might be happy to pass on him and still get Hammer at our 3rd and Dawson 4th. Going to be interesting. We might favour Wright with our first pick, and sacrificing 1 of Andrews or Hammer to keep a 2nd round pick live for a mid, rather than take a mid at 4 and have both Andrews and Hammer.

Considering we have Rich and Redden to come back in, our midfield depth is sitting nicely. If we are fairly confident we can lure a top 24-26 year old mid via FA next year, we might go extra tall in this draft.

Many many variables this year, at least this far out with the top 5 so open.

Clayton finishing the year strongly. 3 goals is nice. Do you know how many possessions he had?

that is very interesting I didn't realise that Brayshaw, Roos & Clayton all played in the same team... Not the brightest crayon.

Last years draft saw us picking a number of players who were quite close Squizzy & Gardner and McStay & Cutler. Wonder if there could be theme this year too.
