I'm hoping he gets a shot as I'm a fan, but I'll be surprised if Hunter goes.

The talk around Uebergang seems to have quietened down. Hoping he gets a chance somewhere.

You'd think with his monstrous size, Preuss would be a chance.

I'm hoping for Uebergang, Bukyx-Smith or Jackson, a QLD ruckman and Hammelmann.

Gowers is an interesting one. Beautiful kick, strong overhead, and can do a good defensive job down back or play a more attacking role through the middle. Certainly has some talent. Looks like he has a bit of speed to from what I seen of him this year. One of those talented kids, who go unnoticed because they aren't as flashy as some.

I'd be happy to have him.

Is Emma on the pulse again??

Carlton or the Brisbane Lions tipped to draft Billy Gowers

And some footage.

That is one of the better highlights packages you will see. Did not do a thing wrong in the video.. even had the nerve to take three or four players and get past them with ease. Would love him at the Lions.

Bourke, Clayton, Gowers (?), Roos (?).

I think it is now safe to say our recruiting strategy is:

Draft a Queenslander, Tasmanian or son of a former Lion/Bear.

Go home factor? What go home factor?

What's the knock on him from what you've seen? Do you know why he may not have been drafted?

Paige has quieted down on the Roos bandwagon. Or is she just too afraid to come back to our board

He didn't really set a foot wrong from what I have seen of him. If anything, probably his endurance and winning his own ball is what is holding him back at this stage. Does need to push himself to more contests. But he has all the tools to become a quality player. Strong overhead, Beautiful kick, Sound defensively, His decision making could be improved as he has some brain fades at times but he is a quick thinker so that is expected at a young age. Has some pace running a 2.93 at the combine which placed him equal 10th at the combine despite not being mention on the AFL Website.

Doesn't standout on the field, but certainly contributes to his side.

hey cotter what do you think about bampton, watching his footagee and readig some peoples views on him he could turn out to be a matt de boer type player who fell to the draft but can be a very strong contributer in an afl environment

I like Bampton, I like the way he goes about his footy with a 'no fuss' attitude. He is certainly one of the better pure inside players we have seen come through the draft in recent times. He's your basic see the ball get the ball player. Will win it more than anyone else but disposes it poorly, makes bad decisions and is not versatile to play anywhere else. Lacks any sort of outside game. Sure, he can win the hard ball, bust through packs and tackle well. But that counts for nothing if your going to turn it over. I think he'll get a chance based off his inside game alone but he has a lot of work to do. If he can improve his deficiencies he could become a very good player. Wouldn't totally be surprised if he was passed on altogether though.

From his highlights Bampton looks like a woeful kick. Makes Raines look like Simon Black.

Afl.com has us committed to Cian Hanley with pick 56 which suggests we will use our first thee picks - 4, 22 and 39.

Has a great looking kick. What stood out in that video for me was his variety in his kicking. He can punch the ball fast and low to get a pass to a player quickly, or go up and over a bit. Also seems to have a good feel for the weight on his kicks, and was able to hit up targets stationary as well as on the lead. Also had some pretty good vision, taking a bounce and having a run a few times and hitting someone up much further up field.

i do see what you mean about his kicking Cotter can look a bit dreadful, it is ridiculous though watching his highlights does not look like at an 18 year old at all but a mid 20s man, ridiculous build for his age.

would you be a fan of us taking panos?? his skills look very good, though he does look a tad slow

His kicks come out well enough but his kicking action will need to be tidied up a bit. Brings his leg from outside in a sweeping motion. Has to get behind the ball for more consistency with his kicks.
Smith and Suckling kick like that and they are both two of the top 5 kicks in the AFL. If someone can kick like that consistently it's a huge weapon.

Please take Billy Evans with pick 4

I love the look of Billy Evans, Big bodied mid who can go foward and have a impact....BUT cant see us taking him, we got Lester and Robo Taller ball winning mids, as well as rocky and Co,

Also, would love to see the Lions Nab Keitel, (although Think he will be gone early) looks very athelic and could add something different to our foward line.

Yeah, certainly has a mature body.

I'd be fine with taking Panos. However I do think we probably have more pressing needs. Another small defender who can shutdown his opponent and provide some rebound the other way along with a ruckman would be nice. Then we've got Cian Hanley and Hammer(I've concluded he will be a Lion, look forward to seeing more of him) as well.

Hammelmen nominated as an Acadamy player, will be taken by us in the ninth round. Welcome aboard!

Hammelman is officially a Lion. 9th round.
