I definitely thought the same and hope we will stick to the best available players at our picks

we've apparently interviewed Lever already and I'm not sure how he'd be ready for next year
but I didn't think Bontempelli would be ready to play this year either, or even Kade Kolodjashnij for the Suns

the vibe I got from it, was that we weren't really interested in long term project players
like Zeph Skinner..
I got the impression Kolodjashnij would jump straight in, funnily enough. Was one of the reasons as to why I was so keen on him.

I thought he would be snapped into two, to be perfectly honest :p but still

was keen on him or Bontempelli, even greedy enough to have wanted both  ah

Eh, never mind. Hindsight's a wonderful thing, he's competed well physically and been an integral part of Gold Coast's back half. I'm a huge fan, enough to want to buy a #28 Gold Coast jumper. Fortunately I'll save myself $100 because all their jumpers are shit.

Hey, there's nothing wrong with being greedy :p I imagine us getting an extra compo pick and snagging Ollie Wines... and then I start thinking about Menzel and Mayes...

I definitely agree, but just remember they're rumours. The AFL ready draftee one may hold some merit, but didn't we technically do that last year? Bontempelli in hindsight would've been ready from day one, ditto Honeychurch, and Fuller was a mature age recruit that didn't work. So maybe it's not exactly what it says, in that it's strong bodies ready for next year, but that we're looking for people who can come in and play straight away like Bontempelli.

As for Casboult, well we're linked to absolutely every KPF, so not much merit in that as of yet.

While I'm hundreds of miles away up in Sydney, I'm beginning to feel the ghost of Peter Rhode's recruiting around Whitten Oval.....

While I'm hundreds of miles away up in Sydney, I'm beginning to feel the ghost of Peter Rhode's recruiting around Whitten Oval.....
that is alright, will go well with the other strange occurrences on the BF Bulldogs page
We've got posters able to read players minds and posters able to see into the future and now add in Ghosts of ex coaches
and sounds like a gas :p

To be honest, the coach should have na-da to do with the drafting, trading sure

anyhow, I forget the Rhode years; I blocked them out with a lot of alcohol
so I don't recall what his recruiting methods/templates were

That's the VFL team of the year. My man Nick Rippon on the bench, seriously hope he gets picked up this year. Deserves it.

Wait, how are we second on the ladder with only one player in the team of the year?

Strong Port representation, as per usual #PMFL

Hope Cavarra gets picked up, he's from my local club and deserved to get a go last year.

I'm beginning to wonder if there is some panic down at Whitten Oval after a disappointing year.

Rumours of getting Cazboult and now AFL ready draftees for next year makes me wonder if a blowtorch has been applied to the coaching staff.

If so, it won't lead to an optimum outcome.

I think their is more calm than panic over there, it is the fans that are losing their minds. Remember it is now the silly season, my rule is to ignore virtually everything you hear and read anyways, because virtually everything that does make its way here will be wrong. But still makes for interesting discussion none the less. Don't pull your hair out over it though :p

If Frawley is going to Geelong I cannot see them paying $750,000 a year. He is rumoured to be offered a long contract of five years and I think it will be around the $450000 mark not $750,000. Does that make him a round one pick or a late first round pick which would be fairer.

To be fair this may have always been the plan. Development first up until this year, transitioning to results focus from 2015. I'd personally be happy to see us trade for some (quality) mature players, or draftees that wont take too long now. We've loaded up on a lot of quality kids that will be in their prime soon, i reckon the time is right to push for better results next year and a serious push in 2016+

If Geelong can secure an All Australian KPP for 450k, that just goes to show how important it is to aim for a long term winning culture. Attracting top players for less money simply because you are a proven winner.

Can play at both ends. He hasn't had the best of years, but early on before all the contract talks started he was doing quite well.
Offers from most other teams would be close to 550k - 600k.

Yeah, that was my first reaction (knowing bugger all about this).
I gather it's only available to non-AFL list players, unlike the JJ Liston Trophy. So Campbell and Goodes etc (who would waltz into that side) could not be considered.

"Dogs have told Wright they want win and are willinging to trade to get a lower pick. This will not be shored up until the "expected" trade choices and finalised between recruiters. Obviously need to find a willing club yet Wright is our number 1, Oh by the way, this is not a rumour, I work with Peter Wright's father, Norm. Eight Western bulldogs staff including Macca (first coach to visit) outlined there plans to the family last week. Let's hope all the cards fall into place."

Well....our team is made up mostly of Western Bulldogs (AFL listed and therefore not eligible). The majority of players come form the non aligned teams. To better gauge our season you only have to see that we got the most votes of any club in the Liston.

Peter Wright is the KP player we want/need I suspect. Having seen more of him now. If he is not taken by Stkilda I will be astounded!

Not sure how we could tempt them to give us their pick 1. We would have to give something very very good and then is it worth it?

Give them our first and second rounder and a player.....who? I have no idea. There is no way he will drop to us at pick 5 or 6 or whatever it ends up being.

If we could somehow trade for the first pick and second pick and get Wright and McCartin
that would be great

Would need to sell the farm for this.

Pick 5, Stringer and Macrae/Bontempelli. Not worth it.

Love the idea of us going after Wright he'd actually be perfect for our forward line, Melbourne would be our best chance at pick 2 I reckon, who would we give up though.
