Rd 17 #Morrish: Carr@Gippsland_Power 16, McLean@OakleighCharger 14, Monk@WesternJetsFC 12, Miller@CalderCannonsFC 12 #TACCup

Just two players remain in contention for #Morrish Medal -@Gippsland_Power Alex Carr &@OakleighCharger Toby McLean - who will win?

Team of the year:

B: D Howe, D Neilson, D Parish
HB: E Vicker-Willis O McDonald C Ellis
C: J Laverde A Carr L Duggan
HF: C Petracca D Moore R Mathieson
FF: J Lonie P Wright T Miller
FOLL: R Marshall, A Brayshaw N Drummond

Int: K Langford T Grace B Evans P Ahern I Heeney A Urban
I wish there was a way we could get all of Lavarde, Duggan and Ellis. The Jets trio.

Hm, a leading goal kicker not selected in a team of the year??

I'm not complaining, the less foster's name is mentioned the better!

Hearing some information that you guys aren't in for Foster. Apparently he's confident in being picked up by one of 3-4 other interested parties but you guys haven't shown much interest in picking him up.

Not sure what to make of it - I give it a 6/10 on the 'reliability' meter so could well be off but yeah, thought I'd pass it on anyway.

And while I'm here, I've really come round to the idea of you guys picking up Menadue. Your first is too high and the second might be a little low though, that's the issue.

Absolute perfect list fit and he's definitely a Dalrymple type of player - just outside as opposed to inside

- 188cm
- can play forward, back or through the middle
- late year birthday
- agility and sidestep best in the draft with Laverde
- year to year and even within a season improvement all excellent (as was the case for bonts and macrae)
- fast. not just that but he breaks lines too. uses his sidestep and runs
- excellent footskills. penetrating, good decisions and composed
- despite only being 69 kilos he's not just an outside seagull with his ability win his own ball reasonable too
- reads the tap naturally and wins clearances
- distribution by hand excellent
- smart footballer
- seemed to stand up and play a career game in the first week of the finals

I think he's probably a 13-20 talent at the moment so you might need to trade up to get him but everything about him just screams 'perfect player for the dogs' to me.

like I said a page above or so, I agree
him or Kyle Langford and I'd be very happy in the second round

where are you thinking Drummond will end up? I think he'd be a type of player we'd like to

interesting if we wanted to skip on Foster(especially if Jones is on the move), are there any mature age KPPs floating around in this years draft?

the more players able to start playing some time next year so they have a f/t part in the squad the better as well

I'm not a huge Langford fan. Nor Ellis. Menadue is special though.

Drummond - someone could punt on him in the third but I'd personally have him 50-rookie. Perhaps undrafted. As a 19 year old he didn't really show much in his VFL games to inspire.

Jones being on the move might change the stance on Foster, I don't know. That is even if my info is true lol. Not a huge amount of mature aged KPP talent. Eddy from South Adelaide is a 192cm very traditional full forward. Could probably make a go of it at AFL level but stop gap at best. Mitch McGovern from Claremont in WA is the brother of Jeremy and a similar (though a few cm smaller) player. That's about where it ends. I definitely think the only real way to acquire genuine KPP talent is through the draft and from other AFL clubs though. Rare for a state leaguer to impact.

With Burton out for potentially 2+ years the KPF stocks are slimming next year with only Schache projecting as that top tier player now. Almost might be worth reaching and going KPF this year with 5 as next year there's a bit of KPD depth in Skinner, Weitering and Collins at a bare minimum that could fill a role. Weitering I think could be a good list fit.

What happened to Burton that sees him out for 2+ years?

I'm hoping the Bulldogs trade aggressively to get more picks or better positions in this years draft

definitely would make it more interesting for you in your final phantom draft ;)

would have loved Finlayson and hope he is a player the Bulldogs do nominate
especially if they upgrade/downgrade a pick slightly

Yeah agree with this, big fan of Menadue and reckon he fits perfectly but I think he ends up going first round. Hoping we get an end of first rnd for Higgins and he's available there. Would be disappointed if we didn't take Foster for a late pick, especially if Jones leaves we'd still need to bring in at least 2 maybe 3 KPF options and not sure there's too many around, should just take the punt on Foster as one of them.

Hope it's true we're going hard at Wright and if we manage to get Wright and Menadue I would be so rapt at that.

Are our chances of landing Wright at pick 5 enhanced if Beams goes to the Lions for pick 4?? Would think the Pies dont take Wright having Grundy and Cloke of course. And if Beams leaves they will need more midfield stocks. Thoughts??

I've heard the same - we're ruling a line through quite a few

Interesting. Thought we would be into the leading TAC goalkicker if it cost us a later draft pick. Could it be teams will bid too early or do we question is work ethic/rate?

i'm presuming that this is regarding the ND (ie - matching a bid)? i wouldn't pick foster in the ND, but he seems a no-brainer as a rookie selection for a club looking for KP prospects.

any word on the names that haven't 'had a line ruled' through them, guys?

Broke/shattered his leg and knee playing for his school.
We can get him on the cheap, just like Stringer. :p

What are your thoughts on Touk Miller, mate? He seems to fit our current draft model.
