I've heard the same - we're ruling a line through quite a few

Surely we will at least be nominating him and waiting to see where other clubs bid? Or are we only willing to look at him in the Rookie draft? I'd find it strange for us to be flat out saying no.

What if we don't think he's good enough?
No point taking a kid based on his surname alone.

That doesn't mean if that player has been judged as right for our club he shouldn't do it.

No, the point of my post was that we might not be willing to nominate him because we don't want him on the senior list, but we may be willing to nominate him as a rookie if he is still around. That would make sense to me. I haven't seen him at all this year but by all reports he has been solid but lacking a few key abilities.

Right you are. I hope it's not a case of having been burned by so many poor pickups of potential forwards that our list managers are too mentally scarred to take a punt on the kid. However, I also think this could be good news. It shows we aren't going to desperately throw picks at talls in the hope of solving our problems, either that or we are going to land a better tall or two in the draft.

Bidding System
A Club can nominate an eligible Father-Son draftee,
with the player’s written consent, for the upcoming
NAB AFL Draft.
At a meeting held prior to the Trade Period, each
other Club in the competition then has the option
to bid, in reverse ladder order, for that player.
If a bid is made, the Club that nominated the
Father-Son player must use its next available selection
if it wishes to retain a hold on that player.
If the Club nominating the Father-Son player
declines to match the selection nominated, the
Club with the successful bid must use that selection
at the Draft.
Any Club that makes a successful bid on a Father-Son
selection is bound to the pick they nominate. If no bid
is made by another Club, the Club that nominated the
Father-Son eligible player will forfeit its last selection
in the draft.

Dalrymple is a friend of mine so I'll stick up for him. We won't be taking Duggan - he doesn't fit the brief - the same reason we didn't take Aish.

Regardless of whether they make the right decision, the recruiters are still more well informed than everyone on this board combined. They have access to things we can't dream of to help them make decisions.

Obviously, but there is still no harm in posters having personal favourites

I'd probably have to personally know a player if I really didn't want us to recruit him and that is very unlikely to happen

If I'm honest I haven't spoken to him about this year's draft, but hopefully I will in the next month. The brief is:
Taller rather than shorter if possible, ie the shorter player needs to have a good trick bag
Must be able to win his own ball
Must have heaps of c*nt in him
Don't take a short player with your 1st pick

Having seen one interview and some footage of Lever, I would think he'd be right up Simon's alley. Dally does keep his cards close to his chest, I must stress that. And he has a strong Marcellin connection so we might have a crack at McKenzie !
