Is there a Stephen Hill at the top end of this draft. Was perhaps the most impressive player I saw live this year (apart from Bonts of course) and would quite like to get one for Christmas.

Maybe Jarrod Garlett
the thing we'd love about him is that he runs hard both ways

the other one would be Pickett but he'd be gone before our first and I do think we'll take a KPP with our first

Would love Garlett in the 2nd round if we get a couple of picks there.

Pickett, but we'd have to take him with our first instead of a key position player.

Cloke syndrome? Stick with the older brother(s) to get the better one.

Allen Jakovich the exception to this rule....easily the worst drafting in my 30+ career of supporting the Bulldogs

So after that debacle with Liam Jones we will have either pick 28 or pick 45 after free agency.

So picks 5-6, 26, 27, 44, 62 and one of picks 28 or 45 unless we are screwed over. C'mon Wright please.

Best case scenario (second rounder)
Wright, Menadue/Langford, McDonald, McKenzie, McLean, Cordy, upgrade Jong.

Worst case scenario (third rounder)
Wright, O. McDonald, R.McKenzie, McLean, D.McKenzie, Cordy.

Look at my avatar and think of the following comment: "This is your captain speaking..."

Morning Robert. How is the ground looking today....

Your clue is far too cryptic for some of the young pups on here......:p

I'm glad a few got it :)

Groundskeeper at Launny last I heard, doing a cracking job too.

So TAC watchers, how does McDonald compare vs Durdin, Lever, Marchbank and Goddard?

He was picked in the VIC country squad, but he was never picked over Cordy, Marchbank and Goddard so he's always been a little bit behind. Comparing them, I don't think he's quite as good on the rebound as Marchbank and Lever, as he probably doesn't pick up as much of the ball and his kicking can be inconsistent at times. He's not as athletic as a Goddard, but he does move ok. And he's not as freakish as Durdin, but he's certainly got some run and dash.

What wasn't mentioned in that write-up was he is quite vocal out on the field and he's certainly got very good leadership credentials. Also as a forward, I don't think he's got great forward instincts and his running patterns need a lot of work. I disagree that he's been just as damaging up forward as he has in defence. He's a natural defender who understands when to attack and when to defend very well IMO. He's a footballer first as well, Macca would love that.

Yeah I agree. Will be really handy to be able to play him on a small or tall if desperate, and let him rebound a bit too. Will just be interesting if he does end up proper KPD height (which is pretty likely IMO), did a pretty decent job on 200cm Wright, fair effort from a skinny 190cm bloke.

He might have trouble against some of the more speedier small forwards, not sure he's quite got the athleticism. Hard to tell though as he hasn't been played much on the smaller types.

Something that I haven't seen mentioned is that, if he doesn't make it as a backman he might as a forward. In the very small sample size that I've seen him play forward, he actually looked pretty decent. Leads well up the ground, good hands on the lead, delivers well inside forward 50 and his forward pressure is pretty good. He reminded me a little bit of Murphy.

Marchbank I rate highly, Durdin as well, ahead of the others.

I still rate Marchbank's game against VIC metro (the early one) as one of the best games that I've seen this year, I would not be upset at all if we recruited him. I feel like it would be a big call though as he hasn't played a lot of footy in the past 2 years.

Thanks. Good review.

have a look at this kid his a Jet and would cap off our tall mids perfect

Spoke to a friend from Adelaide who thinks this kid is the diamond of the draft ould get at pick 60 moves like Tony McGuiness thoughts would go well with our tall mids

Excuse my ignorance, but are we going to bid on Darcy Moore? Is he the best tall in the draft?

Sam Durdin/Peter Wright/Jake Lever

Oscar McDonald/Connor Menadue/Jarrod Garlett

Josh Walker (Higgins Compo)

Zaine Cordy

Dillon Viojo-Rainbow/Damien Cavka/Nakia Cockatoo

please? :p

I like it.
Add in Foster and I do love the additions.
Yeah I was going to have Foster in next
but thought, maybe he still becomes a rookie chance and we've just be overrating him
guess we'll see
but two-three kpps will be alright
Nakia Cockatoo and Garlett would be great midfield additions in my opinion
as line breaking midfielders

Tell me more about Menadue

Pick 26 - Carlton: Connor Menadue (Vic Metro, Linebreaking outside MID)
188cm, 69kg, 19/9/96
Range: Top 40
Comparison: Jono O'Rourke

Connor Menadue is the bolter right now, partially started by his amazing performance in the first round of the TAC cup finals. The talent has always been there though. He's a tall outside leaning midfielder who could go in any number of directions due to his size and rawness. He's incredibly quick with his pace elite and his acceleration exceptional. His evasive movement is elite with his sidestep the best in the draft. That with his pace makes his linebreaking ability fantastic. By foot he's great. Hits targets, picks the right ones, directs the play well by foot and has some penetration. Despite his size on the inside he can win his ball. He reads the tap well and moves well enough to win the hard ball. His disposal under pressure is great. His ability to receive the ball on the outside is excellent with his timing of runs to receive a highlight. For a thin fella his tackling is great. His ability to hit the scoreboard is a highlight.

The knock on Menadue is production. So far he's rarely produced the kind of games he did in week one of the finals. In the champs he showed flashes but hardly imposed himself. There's a lot to like but he's raw. At his size he still has 10-20 kilos to put on still and that could change the kind of player he is. He occasionally tries to do too much with the ball. He's prone to floating in and out of games. Though he seems to have a natural ability to win his own ball his inside game is very much a work in progress and will take time to develop.

The upside in Menadue is really high. He's the kind of player who can break and win games on his own. With what he's doing at his size there's some real indication he might make it. He projects as a higher level Jonothan O'Rourke with that high level receiving game and silky smooth outside game. He'll take time but by season three with a few pre seasons he's someone that could really impose himself on the AFL.

from his mock http://www.bigfooty.com/forum/threads/skipposs-2014-phantom-draft.1070460/

I'm terrible at describing players to be honest
