This exactly why I suggested we give Cooney a mutual hug and ask if Hawthorn want to do that scenario. I'd love Goddard even though I think he go three or four picks beforehand. Still, there's plenty to work with at that exchange/upgrade.

I don't know anything of Dan McKenzie. What's his transcript?

Has been performing very well in the athletics tests too I believe:

Pick 57: St Kilda – Daniel McKenzie

Position: Midfielder
Height: 183cm, Weight: 77kg, DOG: 17/05/1996
Club: Oakleigh Chargers
Projected Draft Range: 50 – rookie
Player Comparison:

A player who has a knack of finding another gear in big games, Daniel McKenzie has averaged just the 15 disposals throughout the home and away season. However, he made a big statement in the first qualifying final, notching 20 disposals, four marks and three tackles against Geelong in the Chargers’ one-point win. He rates among the best in terms of his tackling, marking and transition running. Although he doesn’t bob up too often on the scoreboard, he is the type of grinding midfielder that has nearly unmatched athleticism, rating elite in terms of his speed, endurance and agility. McKenzie also has an above average leap, allowing him to play taller than what he is across several positions across the ground. On the burst he’s unstoppable, but consistency and remaining in the game over four quarters the areas that require improvement – which, to McKenzie’s credit, he is working on.

Guess who was on my VLine train the other day Dav1d. I'll give you a clue he is blonde and did well at the combine...
I saw Viojo-Rainbow at the Werribee vs Footscray game at Avalon, think I mentioned that
doesn't mean anything though, because he is from that area :p

my guess is McKenzie? o_O

He seems to be right on the edge from media reports and I think he would be a pretty good replacement for Brisbane if they lose Patful. I wouldn't be all that surprised if Brisbane bids personally.

Do we bite the bullet or go with the best available at pick 2?

I suspect we will. He fills a need and I think he's shown he's good enough. He's beaten a couple good opponents in Moore and Wright, has good skills, athletic and reads the play well. This is probably an unpopular opinion though, as most on here seem to rate him 3rd round.

Cool, I also think we'd be crazy not to bid on Moore in the first round.

Surely not. Would essentially mean another club willing to use their first rounder on him (or the 4 below us using their second). That's how it works isn't it?

Correct, I'd let him walk in that scenario unfortunately
