I think the key with McCartin is that last year he was a far better FF than Boyd in the U18's champs even though he was a year younger. I still think he will go top 2 so it doesn't really matter whether we want him or not.Can all you blokes take a look at the McCartin "highlights " again , and convince me it's a good idea we sell part of the farm to get him ?
I am in need of some serious convincing.
Personally think he's reasonably well-equipped to have a decent impact in the short-term but I think he'll get overtaken as some of the other KPPs develop. Would add a lot to us regardless but not sure his ceiling is awfully high. Just my opinion though. Wouldn't be giving up what would be required to trade up for him.The highlights package I saw of him doesn't do him any favours at all. It showed a couple of good things but overall doesn't make him look impressive. Think he is a level below the top key forwards of previous years.
I still think he'd be a pretty good top 5 pick up. Agree that he isn't worth trading up the order for though.

This would force us to use our second pick on him. You would baulk at that?
can still pick him up in the draft, is what I meantHammelman not nominated
I would pass at pick 25 but wouldn't if it was pick 35.... 3rd rounder is actually about fair for ZCordy.Well....given that I don't know a huge amount about Zcord and having only read that most have him going with a pick in the 40's then I would yes. I of course don't know how highly the club rates him, pick 25 might be slight overs but ok.
But from what I know.....I would pass.

Twoomey saying clubs will bid as high as 10 for Jack Steele!Geezus, the officials don't rock up until 10am! That's morning tea time for me.
I just read that the Academy players have the same rules as the father/son rules. If we wanted Steel at 26, GWS could nominate their 2nd rounder and secure him anyway.
Need our own academy. Bloody rich &^%king clubs...
and Richmond like him a lotI would pass at pick 25 but wouldn't if it was pick 35.... 3rd rounder is actually about fair for ZCordy.
Which is exactly what will happen with Darcy Moore if we land him.
I am of the opinion we HAVE to bid for him - but fear what will happen if we do land him.
I also find it staggering that Collingwood supporters see a club bidding for him as "spiteful"...this is EXACTLY what the system was designed to do - keep clubs honest and make sure they pay market rates for these kids.
Just concerned we'll put two years' development into a kid who will up and walk straight off the bat.

OK everyone we're about to go. The bell has been rung.
I'm nervous..
Pick 3 would get us Wright...guaranteed.
Twoomey saying Brisbane might not match bids on Dawson/Andrews, because of keeping a pick live for CollingwoodBulldogs of old would have lost their nerve by now and put their hands up to grab Clive Waterhouse with #1
