Everyone has been talking up Clem Smith as a potential slider, today the WA u-18s talent manager called him their most talented player (and so did I a few weeks ago).

Would be a good pickup for any team, just don't know if our list needs another small.
Another small with a shocking kick on him. Love the way he goes about it but not for us IMO

McLean is the one we want if we get that pick. So smart, skillful and selfless (hence No1 in goal assists in the TAC Cup) looks like a modern half forward and will play mid. He has been bolting hard for months now could go second round easily (I was worried he wouldn't be available at our third rounder). Use our third on Brenton Payne or another CHF that could work with Boyd.

So who do we take in the second round? Still need pace and a KPD.

Hoping for Menadue
Garlett would be handy

Maybe a Marchbank slides a little, I know that his name popped up the phantom drafts during the year and he was rated outside of the top 25
and all it might take to get him could be clubs to take a punt on a player based on needs

agree with Igloo, on bit of a role

Maybe we get the McDonald and Menadue combination
would be good

We're on a roll, now is the time to pray for Menadue to slide.
If you believe Twomey, that wouldn't be a slide at all. Fingers crossed he's right.

Wouldn't mind the draft now panning out like this:

26: Oscar McDonald
27: Connor Menadue
45: Matt Hammelmann
I'll be pretty surprised if Hammelmann falls that far. To me, seems like a James Stewart type situation: team doesn't nominate him; somebody else takes him early. Reckon he might go late second.

Any CHF options we could get with our 2nd/3rd rounders? With Jones leaving unless we develop Bonts in that role (which I'd be really happy with) I can't see anybody else on our list as an option there longterm. Hoping like hell Menadue slides, a KPD as well. Menadue/McDonald/Cockatoo at our 3 earliest picks? That would be ****ing fantastic.

Brenton Payne maybe? He has done enough to get a third round pick and would be a good fit with Boyd. Has played a little bit in the defense according to an article that I read.

Yeah he sounds like he could be an option, whats he like? I just want a CHF with good skills!

How did I forget Cockatoo
he might be a bolter that might see Marchbank slide to us

a lot of players I'm happy with
as long as they are pure 'inside mids' ;)

Payne has good skills, reminds me a bit like Gunston actually

193cm think he looks at home at CHF, good below his knees, is quick and is a very good set shot. His problem is that he need to put on some weight and is more your lead up forward than contested marker in saying that he has ability over head. Spent a little bit of time in defense. Has some pedigree too.

Brenton Payne (Western Jets)Born 3.9.1996, 193cm, 76cm

AFL biography: Leading goal-kicker at the Jets. Attends St Patrick's in Ballarat and is also a very talented cricketer. Applies very good defensive pressure for a key forward. Shows good top end speed allowing him to create separation from his opponent. Averaged 9.2 disposals and 2.4 marks for Vic Metro during this year's NAB AFL Under-18 Championships. Endurance is a real strength for a player of his size. Grandson of Essendon forward Charlie Payne.

Shane Sexton, Western Jets: "Clubs are looking for big, strong key defenders so we played him back in a couple of games and he acquitted himself really well. He's reasonably quick for his size, he can cover the ground pretty well and he's a good size. He has decent family heritage, being the grandson of Charlie Payne and we expect him to become a pretty good player. He's in the development category and he's going to take a bit of time, but he could end up a good one."

he'll take a little bit of time but the way our kids put on weight he'll be there in a couple of years. I'd consider Brent Eddy as an intermediate.

Yeah theres still some really good options around our picks I reckon, hopefully we get 36 too. Still got quite a few spots to fill so we have a good chance to find some gems late.

Cheers for that, sounds exactly like what I'm looking for tbh. Fast, good defence, good skills and a big tank. Should hopefully improve his marking a bit when he puts on some size too you'd think, he's bloody skinny. Hopefully he's there at our third.

The Cordy father/son pick up looks very, very handy for us now. We need defenders and will have relatively late picks only, so Cordy is gold.
