Honestly Caleb is a class above every player in this draft.
He is ready to go
Size is irrelevant. I would be amazed if he is not picked up late 1st, early second round
probably not by us though
I was shocked how late Honeychurch went, a small fwd/mid that was dangerous around goals and is a hard worker and plenty of other things
A Metro MVP, U18 All Australian, part of the TAC Premiership winning team that year

4th quarter of Metro vs WA & the first quarter & a half of SA vs Country. Still have a lot of catching up to do.

I still have no strong opinion on who we should take with our first round pick. Can't latch onto anyone at the moment, or at least not until I watch all 3 recordings.

All I know is that we're very likely to finish above Saints, GWS, Brisbane & Melbourne on the ladder, and should that be the case, I'm very very confident Petracca, McCartin, Wright & Brayshaw will be gone.
Things can change a lot. Scharenberg was a lock for top 3 last year and slipped to 7 or 8.

James Aish was a lock 2nd pick, Boyd was always going to go first
even at the start of last year, I guess GWS thought Kelly had more he could add to their team

Its possible clubs look differently when drafting KPPs, like display a little patience
also on GWS, if they take another KPF with their first round pick, that would really annoy me o_O lets say that..

What's the story with Conlon? He looks ok to my eye. Obviously he's coming back from injury but is he playing now and if so, where?

Northern Knights as a 19 year old

the story is, he has had similar luck to Tom Williams
getting injured all the time, been played in the ruck (which I hate btw )
and is an athletic key forward, very slender last I saw him live
when I walked past him, was a year ago
so he'd have hopefully added some size to his frame

reminds me of Ryder, from Essendon; when posted up forward

Ok ta. Is there a common view where he will be drafted, if he can be?

on potential, he was a top 10 last year before he got the injuries

now? in this draft?
if he has a decent run at it and plays some consistent footy
skies really the limit, probably at best second round? :D

Ok I'd give him a go. Athletic, bouncy guys who can catch it and kick it aren't easy to find.

Dannnnnnnnnn would know more, took him in our Phantom Draft last year
just prior to the draft

what I found interesting was he also picked Alex Spina
when I didn't think we'd go for another small and we ended up picking Honeychurch, who is a very good get

He's very good Conlon, was just about rated the second best tall forward last year but didn't play a game for 2 years. He's actually not that skinny now either has put on a bit of size. Fantastic hands, great skills, really good in the ruck if you want him to spend time there, great guy too.

He trained with us the start of last year and we definitely were interested in him so if he finishes off the year without any injury trouble wouldn't be surprised if we took him, not sure what pick though.

i agree with you about his talent. sadly i don't about being amazed. Expect him to fall. the same mistakes re: small players will be made over and over and over i reckon

That was all hearsay. The only selection you could objectively call a lock was Boyd.

I'm not saying anything's a fact, but I'm extremely extremely confident all 4 will be gone before our pick.

was wondering, would you REALLY want Brayshaw? given he is a pretty inconsistent kick, is dual sided to

definitely could see him coming into a side very early, having an impact
like Dunstan for the Saints

we keep drafting good mids with size, then some of them can spill to half forward and half back.
If one of them is an excellent ball user and makes their name as a half back, I'd be very happy.

Just popping in to say my favourite players from the televised champs were (in no order):

Ahern, Webb, Keitel, Blakely, Gore, Laverde and Daniel

obviously i've left out a few of the obvious ones.

Also i reckon Goddard's looking pretty good to be honest. Seems to me the kind of player that needs to learn how to stay in the game, just floats a bit but he's got a beautiful kick and set up extremely well in defense.

Keitel's ground skills really impressed me in the champs. Natural footy player.

Laverde's a bit of a rolls royce and should become a bit of a jet in a good system. You'd think he'll bolt

SA vs Country was an awfully one sided game, I found Pickett really disappointing against Metro
but he made up for it against Country, he played everywhere
back, through the middle and up forward
still doesn't win much of the ball though and struggles with consistency
but his best is brilliant to watch
This is where clubs' individual weighting comes in.

Some preference footskills - we seem to preference rate of improvement - others will weight a players ceiling more highly.

the last game of the Champs was his best, I have seen him 5-6 times now live now
and something about him just seems very off but I can't quite put my finger on it

just track the player that does that, probably who we'll end up taking to be honest

Macrae, Bonti, Ward were all classic rate of improvement selections.

I remember one comment on Ward pre draft that basically said he was half a lap behind the other kids in development, but running a few seconds faster per lap.

The kid we take may not even be spoken about as a first rounder as yet - Bonti was a selection in the teens according to BF consensus this time last year.

Dalrymple pick Ward?

I know we're really wanting a player that could play possibly early next year
not sure who that would 'rule' out though to be honest

probably someone with very poor endurance though

I'm thinking Laverde might be a pretty big bolter, I watched a whole game of Fyfe as a junior ( :( )
and he reminds me, so much like Fyfe; but (Laverde) with the better skills at the same age

Please don't talk about players selected only a few selections after Howard :(

everything is going to be alright

we'll take Laverde as another bolter, get called crazy by opposition recruiters
then he becomes the next Fyfe and takes Howards number and we can all forgot about it

Dalrymple loves to take a risk and pick a bolter , I think he's first ever pick he selected Howard with pick 15 who we could have got with pick 60

That is something I can never forget :(

the draft where we traded for Justin Sherman & Patrick Vezspremi and Nathan Djerrkura was worse to be honest
and also picked up Jayden Schofield

that Justin Sherman pick could have been used on Jack Darling or Jeremy Howe
the Djerrkura pick on either Alex Johnson or Claye Beams
