Petracca will be pick number one in this years draft, bookmark it now

Petracca is a absolute star, I couldn't be all over the kid anymore but i still think the Saints will opt to go with McCartin as their Nroo replacement. Brisbane will fluke out and take him at #2 i reckon. Our pick is going to be intriguing, I don't think we will take Weller as some others suggest.

Be interesting where Petracca goes if he continues his improvement but can't see St Kilda overlooking a tall at number 1 given they are looking at a post Riewoldt era with Stanley and Lee holding down there forward line.

Hasn't JD Hayes been the one that's played more games? I think I remember hearing on the broadcast it was Will's first game today.
Might be wrong though, i'm not sure.

You know who I would be keen on us picking up with a late pick? Will Hayes. He's shown a fair bit running around for Footscray.
I got half way through writing a long post comparing him to a very well known player but, not being prone to brash statements, I deleted it. But he reminds me of someone.

I demand you PM me this comparison, and promise I won't tell anyone :p

My brother in law played at Ess between 94-99. I used to go with my then girlfriend (now wife) and her family to watch every week. He spent a lot of time in the 2s and during 98 or 99 a brash young kid came down from Dandenong as a top up. He wore number 58 from memory and all he wanted to do was kick goals. He never passed it off and just looked out for himself. Will Hayes reminded me of him so much today. Not in a selfish negative way, but just in a way that showed he really knew how to play and where to go to get the ball and kick a goal. The player was Stephen Milne. Obviously, I'm probably going to be proven wrong, because lightning is hardly going to strike twice like that, but the ability and goal sense is all there.

Lucky I'm not prone to brash statements ;)

But they equally have big holes in their midfield. Generally the best way to build a team that has holes everywhere is to work your way from the inside to out, like Macca has done. Though at the same time, key position players are harder to come by, so that could be even more the reason to go a KPP first up.

But a ready made AFL player, tall and built, who not only is great on the ground, but very strong in the air as well, he isn't slow either, and can move forward and kick goals. If we picked him up, our midfield would be scary as. Complete midfielders are hard to find as well, hence I think he would be the first to go regardless who is drafting up top

gun midfielder, we win
gun defender, we win
gun key position player, we win

I like our general forwards, especially with Dickson to come back

hope GC have no hard feelings and will downgrade with us ;) or we might have to take Weller :p

Just did the AFL Ladder predictor. Assuming we beat St.Kilda and GWS, and lose vs Hawthorn and Sydney. I think we have a sniff vs Essendon and North Melbourne. If we win those two, we could find ourselves sitting in 11th position and with pick 8 in the draft.

If that is the case, cannot see GC wanting to give up two first round picks to move up 2-4 places depending where they finish. And at this position I see is going for a defender.

If we lose to both Essendon and North Melbourne, I have us landing with pick 5 or 6 and a chance at one of the sliders out of the top five rated players, and we'd be silly to drop back from that position in the draft.

This two biggest teams to watch from now on, is both Carlton and Richmond. Both teams at their best are capable of pulling a win out of their ass somewhere, but if they both continue to struggle, they could easily finish below us. I think for our sake, it is crucial that these two teams both start finding some wins, particularly given we have the potential to win 2-4 of the remaining six games

I told my grandma I wanted Carlton to win more games (who is also a big bulldogs supporter) and got a look of utter disgust, until I said; because I hope we get a KPP in the draft and am afraid Carlton would take one if they were ahead of us ....also if Frawley leaves, pushes us back further again

I went to the game today i think Will hayes and Darcy Fort are both capable of making the next level and the dogs need to draft anther Rookie ruck Fort looked good today .

Fort certainly needs to spend quite a while in the gym though.

Sometimes its better to win more games. I'm sure we would have taken Toumpas over Macrae if we'd have finnished below Melbourne.

bullet dodged

and I don't mind us winning more games and rising the confidence of the players
as long as Carlton end up ever so slightly higher on the ladder..I don't really like Carlton..I'll say that o_O

Losing games is never a good idea. It's cancerous at a club. Win as much as you can as often as you can.

What's Sam Day's contract status? Fell in love with him a few weeks back and he was terrific against us. Not sure he's playing a game that suits him best at GC and he'd be worth throwing a truckload of money at IMO.
