Sometimes its better to win more games. I'm sure we would have taken Toumpas over Macrae if we'd have finnished below Melbourne.
Melbourne have taken quite a few bullets for us in drafts and trading already. Going after them in the draft is a good thing, it eliminates a couple of bad options.

St kilda ballsed up so badly taking ruck men (hickey and longer) and a key forward (Tom lee) instead of re-loading their midfield first. Will set their rebuild back 2 or 3 years IMO.

Don't query the Pelican strategy (see Franklin and Roughead) gotta query the execution at this point.

Saints worry me:

1 - No 1 Pick in PSD could scare GWS' Patton and Boyd from leaving to PSD next year....you can almost hear Gubby saying do you want to end up at the Saints..!

2 - They may get a priority pick, I bloody hope not, when they have managed their list to ensure failure

If Melbourne haven't got a priority pick these last 3 or 4 years, there's no chance St Kilda are getting one this year.

Hope you are right, Saints board seems to think they will get one - kind of like our board thinking we will land a KPF...

And ps you can't tell me Scully comp wasn't a sneaky priority pick!!

I was originally hoping to finish in the bottom 4, but I have faith in our recruiting for about the first time ever. Thank god Macca put in a system approach to recruiting rather than the chaos approach under Rhode, Rocket and Plough.:drunk::cry:

OK, I'll play the killjoy. With every win our position in the draft worsens. How do you teach tanking to a bunch of hungry young puppies?
I like the fact we are winning. One or two spots in the draft is not worth compromising a desire to win for - and the older guys deserve to celebrate all the wins they can.

If we want to attract players at the trade table, we have to show we are improving to make us a destination that players will want to be traded to.

pretty certain we'll get a player that would be good for us at a few picks later anyway
the only real bad thing, is our recruiters might have do a bit of extra work ;)

Spot on Mofra, you can't buy that winning feeling and like you said it helps attract players to the club and makes those already with us want to stay...

204cm 111kg I think. That is huge for a TAC Cup player.
How was his goal kicking? I think he could go anywhere in the draft to be honest, is he 18 or 19 for this draft?
and imagine if he keeps growing

you should see the WA U16 side
22 players over 190cms

He is 18. It was very windy so it wasn't the best watching for goal kicking skill, though his technique wasn't too bad

Or we could actually lay the blame at the feet of the recruiting staff and footy manager rather than the coach who ideally should have bugger all to do with it?

Peter Wright kicked four goals today. Calder lost though

Wonder where Wright will go..
KM ranks him #1 who is probably the most respected draft expert on BF and the media had him fighting for a 1-3 spot a few weeks ago, i can see him slipping to possibly #5 now. Doubt he will slip like Grundy though :p

1. St. Kilda - McCartin
2. Brisbae - Petracca
3. GWS - Durdin
4. Melbourne - Brayshaw/Wright (They have Hogan and Dawes)
5. Carlton - Wright/Brayshaw
