Yeah I'd still be keen on Goddard, could potentially be the best tall of the draft, would like to see him put up some good performances forward to finish off the year though.

And I'm bloody keen on Laverde so it's tough :(
You keen to try and trade down to get 2 top 20 picks doggies???

Chances of Brayshaw slipping to us if Dees go Petracca?

Also anyone keen on Pickett?

I can't see Petracca getting past GWS to be honest if he makes it that far and I'm not as big a fan of Brayshaw as others on here.....

Mmm not too sure anymore tbh, if our pick ends up 5 which it probably will id want at least two top 15 picks. Starting to think we might be better off just keeping our pick and hoping like hell someone good slides but even if not there's still Laverde/Goddard etc. like the idea of finding another top 20 pick somehow though.

Ask me next week and youll probably get a different answer :P

I reckon we will end up with pick #6 (should finish above Carlton) and if Frawley leaves which is looking very likely It'll go to #7, I wonder if GC would trade say #12 and #15 for #7 and #27 means they 100% get their man in Weller with pick #7 and we get to choose two of Goddard, Lever, Marchbank, Ahern, Duggan or Pickett Instead of one of Laverde, Lever or someone who slips (Maybe Durdin?)

Would be pretty happy if we got something like:
Lever (#12) + Duggan (#15) + Best Available (#22) + Cordy (#44)

Would sure our defence up with 2 KPD's and a HBFer/Mid as well and then the best available at #22 or Keitel/Mckenzie (KPF).

would want to be very careful if we did that

might miss out on the player our recruiters want, also nothing to stop other clubs doing the same
so we may end up needing to throw in more

gone cold on Duggan and he was my favourite not too long ago, just doesn't win enough of his own ball to be honest

heard that we have already seen Lever once already, Brett Andersons tip for us and he has always had a pretty good idea about these things

You would think GWS wouldn't be eyeing another KPF with their first pick, I wonder what the cost would be to trade from say pick 6 to pick 2 and guarantee one of Wright or McCartin? Some people are a little down on Wright as a KPF but I think once he develops, could easily be a very good KPF / 2nd Ruck and a perfect fit for us. Great size and mobility and wouldn't just be a ruckman pretending to be a forward, he has forward instincts. Having Campbell as #1 ruck with Wright at FF and swapping for spells during the match is drool worthy. Jones gets the 2nd or 3rd key back and could really become a good fwd with less attention.

Stringer / Crameri / Dahl
Hunter / Wright / Jones

With Grant, Redpath, Dickson etc depth. :)
From what I saw in the Nationals, I was super impressed with Wright. Any 6'9" kid who has mobility and a kicking action like that will be a fantastic player in the future. And from what I saw he won't have too many female distractions too.

Nah Goddard sucks. Lol. Bonti didn't get much of it at the champs either. Goddard had hip surgery 18 months ago as well. Aggressive in the air, athletic when the balls on the deck, strong left foot. A lot to like.
Does he always kick the ball off one step? He seemed to do it a lot

A little unkind perhaps.

I can see us taking lever. Serious injury won't put us off. He'd be my guess at pick 6 at this stage.
I hope so. I reckon Carlton will look at him at their first pick too.

He is just a great marking/rebounding defender, they don't grow on trees. Johnson and Fisher are the only two in the league who play like him IMO.

If can't draft a genuine gun KP then our strategy could be to load up on great taller mids.....who can spill out to half forward and half back positions, providing us with a team full of ruck rovers with ability to play multiple positions. Any excess could be used in future to trade for KP players from the development clubs who have loaded up on talls and might be looking for more gun mids.

Also I really like Durdin as well, reminds me of Carlisle
So we area likely not to draft him and then hope he may sign with us in the future.

Rd 15 Goals - Jayden Foster 3, Hish Kerbatieh 3, Pete Wright 2, Tyson Young 2, Josh Cauchi 1 & Paul Ahern 1#gothemightycannons

Kerbetieh is kicking a lot of goals for an under ager

Duggan kicked three goals today. Don't think Laverde kicked any.

western Jets twitter is the best of all tac cup sides btw.
also best youtube, they do highlights of each round
keeping all interested parties informed :D know if Payne played?

I think Viojo-Rainbow may have played
I can't get over his kicking, strong contested mark

totally think he could become a star with the right development

he reminds me a bit like Ben McEnvoy

apparently has a big tank for a big guy, like a 14

I like Durdin too. Anyone who is a one touch contested mark has ability.
he got 3 touches in the last champs game and one he kicked the ball to himself from a kick in
and pretty sure the other was from a free kick, would not think a thumb injury recovery affects the ability to win the ball
anyhow, a lot of players need a big year; Marchbank apparently gone in for knee surgery; not sure if this drops him further down the draft order..

also, just need to remember our drafting template will be
-players that can win their own ball
-good character

heard our recruiters are red hot on players they think will be able to play next year, find that very interesting...since we've interviewed Lever
suppose we'd be interviewing every play very closely though

This guys says some interesting things about this crop of draftees:

Goddards highlight package is really unimpressive. Gets into space a bit, lopes around and duffs a lot of kicks under no pressure.
Durdin looks a better prospect, but worth pick 5 or 6?

To be honest, I like the sound of Jake Lever, particularly if he is hitting 194cm now. Looks to be pretty switched on, not the lumbering type.

Still think we should look at trying to package our first round pick 5 or 6 to the gold coast for their picks 10 and 15. Depends entirely on which players we rate, I guess.
