If that was the final draft order, could see it going something like that

I just can't see how a team like Melbourne will pass on Brayshaw. I won't be complaining if we get him.

What position does Question mark play, how are his foot skills?

Wouldn't Carlton take Goddard?

Tonight should serve as a reality check to those naive enough to think pace is overrated & unimportant. As far as raw pace goes, I've never seen such a huge gap between two teams in my time watching footy; it was like watching a snail trying to catch a deer.

What do get for pick 1?

tongue firmly in cheek

my bad

what I get for not sleeping
but they probably will

anyway, I don't think Waterman goes at 9
means a club would need to nominate him before that and hes no top 10 pick!

don't get me wrong though, I think he is a good young player but yeah

think we could drop below a bit, with the game we put up today though..

do you think if it comes to one of the KPPs or a mid/hbf with pace and skills, we'll choose the mid?

I honestly think we should pick up a couple of both from the best available at each of our picks

Key-Forward because we need one just as much and they're harder to get.

But really, I'm just making a point to those who were saying pace isn't needed to win a flag and that good handballing/kicking nullifies it.

Tonight showed pace is extremely important, and we didn't have any of it tonight aside from Tutt & Wood. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if the Gold Coast went on a 5+ year winning streak against us because they're an insanely fast team and that's always going to give them a big advantage over us.

I don't think its as much speed though as it is quality ball users
A lot of our players are extremely indecisive with the ball and they execute poorly or handball to people that are flat footed
because they don't want to take the responsibility if they stuff it up, no confidence in themselves

Sure it wouldn't hurt to get a Pickett and etc, but a lot of those players tend to be quite short
and we already have a number of short players, what we need are mid sized players that can mark through the midfield
have good agility and good kicking ability, down the track; this might be Hunter, but hell that is just one player

we probably will take a KPF if the right one comes up, but I hope the rest of our picks are focused on players who are highly effective with their disposals

Harbrow killed us, Shaw killed us, Matera killed us to an extent and Sexton killed us with his limited touches. Every time these guys got the ball, there was no catching them, whereas we rarely got away from out opponents in advanced positions because we lacked dynamic players capable of taking the game on.

Yeah, our whole team were god awful at using the ball today, but that isn't going to be fixed with recruiting; we're not challenging for the 8, period, unless over half the team drastically improves their skills & vision by hand & foot.

As far as pace goes, we have Wood, who's a good defender but not a smart player, Tutt, who's tenacious but not a smart player, Johannisen, who's dynamic but not a smart player and that's about it. Out of those guys, I'd say only Wood's proven himself good enough to make it in a Premiership Team and he does his best work in defense; we need someone who can break the lines through the middle of the ground & up and around the forward line.

What we really should be doing is throwing the kitchen sink at David Mackay, but that's for the other thread. As for the draft, Jarrod Pickett or Tom Lamb would be beautiful at this point in time.

True, just certainly doesn't help us

I know Pickett has speed and agility and the guy is composed in traffic

also important that the fast player runs both ways, no good if you can't run both ways or haven't the endurance to

Lamb frustrates me a bit already, gets clear of a player and throws it on the boot without looking up and
that could just be lack of talk from team mates, but he could at least be looking up the ground before throwing the boot on the ball
Wallis often does the same thing actually

That is how I see thing unfolding at the moment.

He didn't have KK in the top ten for ages and even after we all knew that Gold Coast were keen on him he didn't even put him at gold coasts pick. I'll make my own opinions of players judged on what I see, it's always the best way of doing things.

Maybe you might want to revise that draft order.

IMO, we'll have a pick in the 2-5 range.

OK thanks
I'm guessing you're going of Jack Watts comparisons, I think that's more to do with him being slightly more of an athlete than a pure footballer. They say his intensity is good, maybe more Sam Day from Gold Coast, than jack watts

OK thanks. The way we played today, we might be nearer to getting him than we thought.

But seriously look at the first half, when you use the ball well pace isn't a huge factor. Not saying we don't need it, not at all. But when were playing good footy it really doesn't matter that much.

We'll finish below Carlton
Yeah really didn't expect Carlton to win that one from the possible wins that I had for all teams judged on early season form Carlton were only in that spot cause we both had the same number of possible wins for the year now I see that unless Carlton completely fade out and we win a game I haven't expected to win then we'll finish with pick 5.

Brisbane is the only team I'm confident we will finish above, but if they even get some talent back and get a run on at home, who knows. It is possible we end up with pick 1 or 2.

We're not that bad, we'll click eventually and have a decent run of 3-4 wins in 7.

Have you looked at saints and GWS draw, neither will win another game this year

Any ideas yet on what we'll have to pay for our father son picks this year? Is it just Cordy and Wallace who we're likley to nominate?
Has Jayden Foster developed into a draftable player yet or will we be passing on him again. Is he worth bringing in to our VFL side?
