Luck I'm not the recruiter then! We wont have a top 5 pick? so who do you suggest? Hopefully one of the Key position players slide but I think there will be others in the later rounds that will be just as good.Ouch, that would be a disaster of a draft![]()
I more meant Zaine in the second round, sheeshLuck I'm not the recruiter then! We wont have a top 5 pick? so who do you suggest? Hopefully one of the Key position players slide but I think there will be others in the later rounds that will be just as good.

That would be paying way overs for two players, Duggan is more in the 10-15 range and we'll likely have pick 5
Thats why I think it'd be a disaster, I'm hoping we either trade up or down but I do agree there will be some KPP come later in the draft that could be worth a look though

He meant that he has seen come through the club and he talks up all of his players to be honestZane is meant to be one of the best fullbacks the Geelong Falcons coach has seen tho and I was just thinking 2nd round but id take him with the 4th or 5th if we can!
Well if we have pick 5 I hope we can get Durdin, Wright or Goddard. But I'm thinking they will all be gone so I'd take the best speedy midfielder/ rebounding defender with the cleanest skills first, now that Murphy is getting older and we have noone else off half back( Higgens will move forward). Thats why I thought Duggan but if hes meant to go 10-15 don't even bother! McCartin is a worry with his issues, i would not take him at all.
Hopefully there is!
He meant that he has seen come through the club and he talks up all of his players to be honest
Talked up Dahlhaus and he went in the rookie draft
but anyway, Emma Quayle said Zaine likely goes in the 3rd or fourth; depending how much he does this year because
he has been pretty quiet up until this year because of injuries and such
personally I'd rather Pickett in that case, but maybe we will upgrade our pick to ensure we get a KPF; I mean, its not like GWS need to continue getting more and they will probably fall below us and still get a player they like at our pick...so
don't get me wrong, that I think Duggan will be a good player but there will some other skilled mids/hbf at our second rounder to
Well we need to become a club that is good at retaining talent and Pickett is a talented player and is exciting with good foot skillsYeah but Dahl would now be a first round pick... I guess he talked up Gardiner last year tho. Yeah well hopefully we don't have to give up to much for him. Yeah I'm hoping we can upgrade our pick as well and pick up a good player with our second round as well! Yeah Pickett seems good but will he want to go home after 2 years? seems a bit risky but could be worth it!

Well we need to become a club that is good at retaining talent and Pickett is a talented player and is exciting with good foot skills
Need lots of young talented players with good foot skills, for the midfield and for the backline
especially if something was to happen with Higgins, (injury, traded, leaves via f/a)
and I wouldn't be overly concerned on Zaine at this stage and some opposition supporters would argue that Dahlhaus wouldn't be worth a first round pick, but bugger them![]()
Yeah I'd try and get a genuine 40 disposal winner who can kick elitely (80% mark) for the midfield group (hence why I like Taylor Grace) and a elite kick off halfback that works well as a defender too (Viojo-Rainbow is the one).Well we need to become a club that is good at retaining talent and Pickett is a talented player and is exciting with good foot skills

have you seen any of Taylor Grace? I hear inconsistent reports on the guy that hes an 'elite' kick and sometimes a very random kickYeah I'd try and get a genuine 40 disposal winner who can kick elitely (80% mark) for the midfield group (hence why I like Taylor Grace) and a elite kick off halfback that works well as a defender too (Viojo-Rainbow is the one).
He's running at 80% atm I don't see what is so erratic about that. Seems to me that the same thing that happened to Langdon and look at him now. A lot of good player's miss out this way because of misinformation by people. They called Dahl slow and a bad kick too remember? May also depend on the conditions and where the player is playing too. Getting 40 possessions and 25 having been won on his own (others where handball receives) doesn't bother me especially since he was of the only mids from Sandy that did anything on the weekend, Yes we need a play maker but I'd also like a guy who can get plenty of ball in the middle and use it well enough to hit up our forwards lace out instead of kicking it so high it hits the roof or scrubbing it along the ground, if he can kick goals even better. I'll have to wait for videos of these guys to be 100% certain but he looks a good fit. I still had a 15 touch winner mentioned btw it is just you can't have too many of those sort of players or else you get beaten by volume of possessions against you rather than skill, it is a balancing act beaten ball winners and skilllful users a 40 disposal guy who kicks at 80% are worth their weight in platinum (gold is too cheap) as are thehave you seen any of Taylor Grace? I hear inconsistent reports on the guy that hes an 'elite' kick and sometimes a very random kick
and I've always thought that I'd rather the guy who gets 15 touches and sets up the team then the guy who gets 40 'cheap' disposals
's of this world. If we balance the mixture then we have the best midfield in the comp. Guys who get cheap disposals are like Lachie Weller who gets way too much ball from it, hence why I don't rate him as a top 15 pick despite other talents. if you win more that 40% of the ball by handball receives it is a serious problem especially if it is done consistently, that is what I define as 'cheap disposals'. That or getting it and using it like Boyd or Wallis so that they are completely meaningless in the game.
It is a worry though sometimes players get the ball handed to them in the juniors and when they move up they get completely lost. A player like Weller wouldn't fit what Macca wants in his game plan though so I doubt our recruiters will touch him, will have to find some footage though but we really don't like recruiting pure 'outside' mids. Still see guys like Rainbow getting a chance though because he is not very one dimensional.Jury is still out for me until I see him play, I don't care if he had a 100 disposal game because its all about how his body would cope with AFL and how his game would transfer over, honestly a player with a 9 disposal average could turn out to be the next Ablett and the 40 disposal player could turn into the next Veszpremi
I get what you're saying about the handball receives though, I think those players have their place to
Viojo-Rainbow also takes a lot of marks and is a bigger bodyIt is a worry though sometimes players get the ball handed to them in the juniors and when they move up they get completely lost. Yes hence why I had the 5 Rookie idea, we pit the two 19yo's against one another (and the other rookies) and upgrade the one that shows the most in the preseason.Viojo-Rainbow also takes a lot of marks and is a bigger body
I thought the other players looked quite tiny in comparison and you seen Drummond's footage? Really quick and a high volume tackler
Sounds very Macca type![]()
could we have 5 rookies?Yes hence why I had the 5 Rookie idea, we pit the two 19yo's against one another (and the other rookies) and upgrade the one that shows the most in the preseason.

I think 3 would be a bit overboardI dare say that if these guys could mark and kick goals they wouldn't be available as the would be drafted a bit higher than the 3rd 4th and 5th rounds. You might get lucky and find a gem, but three would be a bit of a stretch i think.
but there will definitely be some KPFs come later in the draft, they'll likely have some faults in their game
also Terry Wallaces rolling draft 1-10

put in Petracca to tease Essendon what they may of missed out on

I don't think of Lamb as a Key Forward, more of a third tall that could go on the wingI'd be very happy with Wright
Or Goddard
Or Lamb
or any of the key forwards projected in the top 10.
Heck, any key forward full stop.
What we need is a genuine goal kicker above 193cm.I don't think of Lamb as a Key Forward, more of a third tall that could go on the wing
still very talented however; but heck any of the rest would be decent gets
If we get Wright, I'll be calling him the next Tippett vIIWhat we need is a genuine goal kicker above 193cm.
