bit like a young Ryan O'Keefe
will be interesting to see what happens regarding Petracca once Brayshaw returns

Cordy was real solid, was surprised how he'd peel off his man and be where the ball ended up
Lamb was unfortunately injured, Goddard was very poor; in fact, barely would notice he was out there
Don't think it's any secret Cordy will fill the role Hargrave played. We could really use him as well with Tom Young not improving.

As for Goddard, I still find it hard to predict where he'll go in the draft. Has all the right attributes to go top 5; athleticism, kicking, versatility, strong hands etc, but still has a huge problem with consistency. Not sure he's one we should take with out first pick even though he seems ideal for us; I don't think we're in a position to take a big risk like that.

yeah, if he is our best option as a KPP, I'd rather Duggan or Pickett

haven't seen Pickett live yet, but Duggan was fast and used the ball well and found out he ended up with 10 tackles
not a high accumulator, but a quality user of the ball and most of forward thrusts for Metro he was involved somehow

kinda disappointed to see a lot of the big names out though

personally not a real huge fan of Durdin either, but haven't yet seen enough of Durdin

will be interesting once its reached the combine and we can see which players place highly, really need some fast midfielders that can run all day

so a high beep test and a good kick should be what we're after, in several spots; unless somehow Wright ends up at our pick (still a possibility)

Quick as Tutt, think he was pretty well composed

a couple of under-agers impressed though, see some KPFs coming through for next years draft already; more the athletic type of KPF

I wonder if Durdin was on Keitel the other day because he had a real solid game with 3 goals
Good to hear that about the underagers. We have one foot in the door for Maishman could be nice given his pace and composure

If he comes in, Tutt would be gone; think he is about the same height and plays the same role but has more composure then Tutt at this level
hard to say how much room for improvement is there

I'm claiming Duggan as my boy :p.

Already taken mate :p A long time ago
I'm sure there's more than enough room for both of us ;).

I always get on the St Pat's boys (that sounds so wrong). Hopefully he can captain us to five Herald sun shields in a row.

I've seen a lot of Petracca he's a midfielder not a forward and in the future will be a Josh Kennedy style of midfielder. Petracca's hands are elite, but he's a poor kick with average speed and doesn't fill any need for the club at the moment.

Last year, Bontempelli's late birthday was talked about as an interesting factor in his selection, as it potentially meant that he had more development left in him than the other draftees. Liam Duggan's birthday is on the 11th of December. Hope this means he has quite a bit of growth left in him too. If it looks that way as the year progresses, get on this kid! Late birthdays ftw!

Laverde interests me a great deal at this point
I saw Laverde a number of time do some real dangerous kicks, some worked out; some didn't
saw him kick it into the centre of the ground rather then kick long along the boundary and land the ball in his players hands
between two opposition players, fortunately his team mate could take a good mark

What I liked from what I saw from Duggan is he wasn't getting cheap possessions, I remember the ball spilling over to him at one stage and it took a weird bounce over his head and I was like Aw damn, because I just knew he'd do something good with it

He's a great size. First time I'd seen him live yesterday, and he impressed me.

Without professing to know a great deal about this crop yet, he seems a classic late first rounder/early 2nd round pick at the moment.

Mad Monday notes re: Duggan

Liam Duggan

Just oozes class, played inside and outside the contest. Really nice defensive efforts, big tackling machine and got a few holding the ball decisions his way. Can kick the ball well off both feet. Some really elite hits inside 50 off both feet. Some nice feet through traffic. His left foot is his preferred, I believe that if there are two midfielder around the same level, always go the left footer in preference to the right footer. Just get so much more penetration from their kicks, and hit better angles.

- Leverde played very well yesterday, just not a fan of some of his decision making. I was a bit more impressed by Nelson, didn't do a lot wrong all day
- I really liked McDonough's game. Took some good marks and he has a nice kick on him.
- Duggan looks the goods, feels like whenever he has the ball something good is going to happen. Still doesn't win enough off it to get me really excited at this stage.
- I don't think Goddard is the right type of forward for us. He had plenty of ball kicked to him, but he had no impact on the game whatsoever. I was very disappointed by his game and at times lack of competitiveness.
- I find the Petracca talk going top 5 completely bogus. While his running game has improved, it's still a major worry for mine. If I was a recruited there's no way I'd risk using a top 10 pick on him. In the 2nd half yesterday he was really starting to labour especially.
- Cordy had a couple tall opponents and I can't remember them ever doing anything. Started to come in and find a bit of the ball after half time which was good to see

The throw a lot of mud at a wall and hope some sticks approach?

Pretty much so - it's the position we have struggled to fill for over a decade and I think we have to Nuke it and solve it otherwise we will be chasing our tails trading for it or holding players tried but not up to it just because we have no one else like that ( Possibly Jones haven't totally given up hope yet - yet )

I don't care if Duggan gets 10 touches a game, if they're all quality. Guys like Cyril, Stephen hill, jetta, don't need 25 touches a week to win games.

Duggan isn't as quick or as flashy as the guys mentioned, Pickett is more the one you seem to be describing. But I get what your saying. I really like Duggan and we could certainly do with his class. I'd just like to see him do a little bit more.

I heard he got 10 tackles, did you have binoculars when you watched the game?

I was impressed whenever he got the ball, but I don't think he yet has the size/strength to be accumulating the ball as much as a Maynard/Brayshaw, who look built and accumulate the ball at will

I'd still like to see more to, but looks classy and if he says he supports the bulldogs, I'd be even more wanting to get him :P
